Pelicans: My Secret Weapon for Charity

Our little company, S3, has decided to forgo the tiresome holiday party and instead, use the $5k for local charities.

So we split up into 9 teams and will be judged tomorrow, Friday the 11th, at 12 pm CST on how well we did to impact the local community. My secret weapon is...you. The Pelican society of crusty, partisan malcontents have proved themselves to be... all mushy inside. Even Joe A. and Moses.

Now, the charity my group has embraced is a bit different than most.

Colin Holst was 4 years old when he drowned in a Lifetime Fitness pool in Austin Texas. He was healthy and happy and we still do not know why he drowned. So his parents created a charity named, "Colin's Hope", with the mission of preventing kids from drowning. Being the dad of a 9 year old daughter, it's hard to even write this note without welling up just a bit.

Here's the rub: if our team wins, each of us gets a $250 gift card. We've decided to donate that money to Colin's Hope were we to win. Although the amount of $ won't necessarily make us win, it might help. And your donation will surely help disadvantaged kids in Austin.

So if you're "of a mind", hit this link and mention "S3" in the Tribute part of the form: https://www.colinshope.org/donate.aspx

Many thanks, and have a happy holiday!

Well, as a team we raised $2600 for Colin's Hope.

As a company we hit 9 different charities for about $9k--and most were recurring type things.

Very proud of our little company today. Very.

Thanks Joe..
