Not sure why anyone would do this....but someone did:

Cause it's cool.

I like it, if I still had my 64 365 hp Vette I would love that motor, it's just that it would cost more than a real one. I have seen other small things like that run, including a beautiful four cylinder Offy up in middle Calif. and a radial airplane engine owned by a pilot in San Diego, he said it ran but I just wasn't there at the right time to see it.

Very cool! I wonder what the power output is. It would be amazing if the HP was to scale as well.

My fan belt use to do that in my V-8 Vega.

I wonder if it has 1/6th the HP of the Chevy engine too. The big version put out 375 horseys i think.

BeyGon 12-12-2009 12:42 PM

I think that was injected, this model has a four barrell.

If the bore, and stroke are 1/6th, the volume is 1/216th of the original.

So a 327 becomes 1.5 cubic inches, and 365 HP (from the original engine) is likely about 1.5 HP maybe?

I suspect the frictional losses are huge compared to the full sized engine. And I doubt the scale carburetor works very well.

I am not an engineer but a question came to mine. Do all the metal specs scale down also. Does a crank journal thats say 2" in full scale have the same strenght when scaled down to 1/6 its size.
