My Zombie spoon is complete...Maybe...

Yep, took the original walnut stock off in favor of this unknown era composite one... got my German bazooka sling on... and got the handguard off and painted it with textured paint to match the stock... I am thinking of doing a Dura Coat camo job on it as I am not too fond of the high vis stainless barrel... you know those zombies are like coons, they are attracted to shiny objects.... Sorry for the bad pics but my Mavica is limited...

This is a National Match Spoon... last time I shot it, we were shooting at 100-120yds... I out shot both my buds who were using scopes... I got all 20rds into an area the size of a porsche badge... with about half hitting the nickel size bullseye.... couldn't see it at 100yds, so I just aimed for the center of the orange circle:D

EDIT: Didn't see other thread

ODDJOB UNO 12-15-2009 10:41 AM

arrington and others have made these tack drivers. some from factory are spot on. its like anything the more time ya shoot it, the better ya get, more comfortable, and more accurate.

when ya shoot these alot and start making friends with others with these ya start learning all the "tricks" that can be done to them.

sadlak is prepping M-14 rifles for all military snipers. these guys are into it and have taken a simple accurate mousetrap and made it insane accurate. arrington/fulton are using there stuff so ya know its got to be good.

scoped or iron sighted.

futuresoptions 12-15-2009 11:03 AM

Will look into that, noticed one of my favorite armorers is using their parts (West Texas Armory, never bought or dealt with them, just think they make some lovely spoons).... I would like to get a JAE 100 stock and eventually a socom with a folding Mcmillan stock...

flat black header paint

I have some Sadlak goodies on my M-14, including the scope mount that still allows you to use the iron sights. Very high quality stuff.

I can say however, after carrying it all over the mountains of Colorado elk hunting, I will be buying a 7mm bolt action, primarily based on the weight alone.

they are not light are they? check out a winchester m-70 in .338 win mag vs. 7mm. asswhooper of a round.

is your fiberglass m-14 stock hollowed out? some recently are not hollow for placement of cleaning kits. take wood spade(correct size) and drill 2 holes in foam. i had to do that on my socom to fit usgi cleaning kit and combo tool.

check mcmillians website out. they have factory seconds every so often on all of their stocks. some good deals to be had. if its a "shooter" you will never even care about some of the minor "blems" on factory second stocks at a real good bargain.

911boost 12-15-2009 11:54 AM

Oh I hear you Uno, I am pissed, I just missed a Winchester m-70 in 7mm in excellent condition at a local pawn shop, it went for $375.

Two of the guys I go with shoot .338 win mag. Lets just say it does the job as well.

I am keeping my eyes open for either round.

Bill

now thats a fine hunting rifle for those crap hunts during the full moon LOL!

you really shouldnt have a problem finding either 7mm or .338 win mag in any flavor these days. hunting season is over, hunter numbers are way down these days. economy is pushing wanna be hunters with crazy ass bucks into their rifles to sell them for pennies to the dollar.

any hunt bring OPTICS(good juans) and (2) rifles. a short barrel brush buster and a long range reach out and touch 'em rifle scoped. you can go to a different area and one of the rifles will be wrong. i have nailed elk/deer short range and long range.

lazer range find critter...................crank come-ups and fire! if its close just fill the iron sight with FUR AND FIRE!

go to M-14 forums. look for bill ricca and buy a USGI USN NYLON SLING(vietnam era) new in bag made in the USA and made for that rifle! worth every penny. why? cuz it appears your sling mounts are plastic. and that aint good on that rifle cuz they be berry berry heavy and plastic likes to take a crap when ya least expect it. ie. worse possible time. and them rifles are spendy when they fall down cliffs rocks etc.

m21sniper 12-15-2009 02:58 PM

My M-21 was a Vietnam era rifle, and i can honestly say that i don't even know how it could have been improved upon to make it shoot better. I could shoot 3/4" groups at 100m all day long with that wonderful piece of machinery (yes, a rifle can be made more accurate than that, but there's really no need IMO). Damn the army for not letting me buy it when i ETS'd. LOL.

That rifle pains me to look at. :-/

Is that sight actually thermal imaging or is it a PNVS? Looks similar to an old A/N PVS-4. What model is it?

Nope, Solid steel.. This strap is built like a tank, you could hook it to a Chevy 350 as a hoist chain to pull the motor...(No Kidding) it was made for German Bazooka's... I like it because it is wider than the US military sling... The only down side is that it is metal to metal on the rifle... The zombies may hear me clank and cling if in the near vicinity.... I am thinking of putting small leather wraps around the rifle swivels in order to quiet things down a little...

Didn't the Gov't destroy most of those? Sure wish they would of let the CMP reconfigure them for the sporting public.... I remember the last time I shot one in the military, we were in the Med, 15-18ft seas shooting them off the fan tail of the ship... good times... (laughing now as I remember some of the guys shooting the deck just feet in front of us from the rough seas and them not being able to hold their rifles steady....)
