been using my friends D-60 with all foo foo lenses and finally took the plunge.

this kamera can be outfitted with GPS lat/long and altitude printed on every pic.

all lenses from 1959 will fit. unless you want new latest greatest lenses (VIBRATION RESISTANT) and then ya gots to go with the VR models.

ikelite makes an unta wata housing and that makes me berry berry happy!

my evil diabolical plan to rule the world, worked .

anyway anybody got any feedback on nikons d-5000? just came off runway with another boatload of stoopid pics. having a ball with this.

no different than a gun................POINT AND SHOOT=perfect no brainer pictures.

i pushed the envelope with my (oldskol) D70 today. shot pics in a dark tunnel with little light, no tripod. it isnt my leica, but i came close...i'm gonna try to anchor myself better tomorrow.

ODDJOB UNO 12-15-2009 05:18 PM

well as with all quality products ya just always have to ACCESSORIZE and i got me the polarized filter and the clear lens cap and a nice neoprene sling for it.

my buddy at nikonos repair gave me some names at nikon he knows personally and they are DIVERS!

so future purchase will be whatever housing they recommend for it.

as far as flash my buddy said stick with nikon. they make a $225 flash that bends in every direction to bounce flash and mounts right on.

i like the gps and thats about $149 to add to a d-5000.

gonna start looking for lenses to complete the array so i can take more stoopid poo pictures of vierd ge stuffen.

Sounds like a fun toy, but shouldn't the question now be what color it will be robar'ed in?
:D :D
Be sure to get uv filters for each lens... good for keeping varmints out. Also, nikon's lens pen is handy to have and uber cheap.

yes joe and we will take pictures of anything that moves. that sucker is about a foot away from me right now. the ONLY way you get good action shots is velcro the damn thing to your ass and lug it around everywhere.

IM LOVING (4) EXPOSURES PER SECOND on AUTO(no brainer mode).

the freeking thing at deer valley is showing helo blades stationary in every shot for a multi second flyby. it is freeking amazing.

cant wait for next track day.

Older MF lenses will mount but no metering.

im calling ashton kutcher today for the lowdown on this. LOL!

so far this has been getting more and more fun finding subjects and taking shots.

right now im using the 200mm lens. have not even used the 18-55mm lens.

later on this am i will change lenses and go out on tarmac here and take some pics of planes landing and taking off for giggles.

i have taken 150 shots since yesterday on a fully charged battery and the the battery life indicator hasnt even budged. and quite a few were using flash in a dark dreerrrry aircraft hanger. so battery life on this is most eggs-cellant!

takes 1hr 40 minutes to fully charge battery on 110AC wall charger. im looking for a 12v charger so i can cahrge batteries at the track or in the middle of BFE!

I have a D40 and it'll take about 1500 pictures if you're not using flash on a single charge. More than enough to get through a weekend at the track. If you're going to go overboard in BFE for a weekend, just buy a second battery and change out on saturday night.

how long have you owned your d-40? my buddies d-60 has been FLAWLESS for quite awhile now. not a problem yet. and he uses the HELL OUT OF IT professionally now doing fashion shows/track days/weddings/general stoopid poo pictures. he is a maniac bordering on OCD with that damn thing taking pictures. this really really straight customer of theirs saw a bunch of his pics and made the ever lasting statement........"that bill sure takes some wierd pictures" and we have been HOWLING about that for a couple of years now. ie. pics of flys, dog poop, dogs/katz humping/people of walmart/ signs like "lim-bong liquors"/fat women/fat men/fat kids/fat animals...........you get the idea. anything out of the ordinary he takes a shot of it and we have been in stitches laughing until we cry over some of them. its fun as hell. take a 1000 shots and ya get usually about (3) that are honorable mention!

tempe camera right by asu is the camera utopia here. the guy there stated he has never seen a problem with any of the d-series cameras. as far as service on them he stated to bring every 1-2 years for $35 bucks they will clean out entire body lube whatever and off to the races ya go.

he did state the (2) BIG things to AVOID: water(any kind) and DUST when changing lenses.

other than that a very reliable almost idiot proof 12.3 pixel camera.
