While AAPL's increase yesterday was impressive, keep dreaming if you think they will ever be half the size of XOM or Wally world.
AAPL: Annual revenue (last year) $36.3B Annual profit (last year) $5.7B Net profit margin 15.72% XOM: Annual revenue (last year) $275.6B Annual profit (last year) $19.3B Net profit margin 7.00% I think those numbers are a death blow to your theory. Source: cnn.com/money

1997.
When Michael Dell was asked what he would do if he were running Apple he replied, "What would I do? I'd shut it down and give the money back to the shareholders," And today Apple could buy Dell for cash. Maybe Mr Dell should focus more on his company than he does on his basket ball team. He's got his eye on the wrong ball.

that fanboy is an analyst for thestreet.com & was actually for the android phone, before he tried 1..... I anticipated your response & posted the cnbc 1. I probably got a little ahead of myself and should have said microsoft 1st..... as far as exxon goes(even though they just made a huge find in Australia.... & Iran problems, could make oil go sky high), look at how much money it takes for them to make 7% profit, while Apple makes 15%. In other words electronics has huge profit and Apple has "momentum" 50 more retail stores this year.As long as Steve Jobs is alive it will have continued growth. This 1/4 did not include Ipad sales( having trouble keeping up with demand & the only company to actually sell any significant #'s) or new iphone or any new products in pipeline or a Verizon deal. when I saw Steve Balmer take over Microsoft I started buying Apple. Google made a huge mistake knifing Apple in the back and now Apple will have search engine and add generated profits. All of this in a down economy, so the growth potential is huge http://macdailynews.com/index.php/weblog/comments/24939/ http://www.thestreet.com/story/10731384/1/apple-could-soar-to-500.html

Angst is growing rapidly in the developer community. Apple will feel the push back and it won't be pretty.
On the mobile front, Android phones will surpass the iPhone in the next 6 months. http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/29/stats-iphone-os-is-still-king-of-the-mobile-web-space-but-andr/ http://blogs.adobe.com/conversations/2010/04/adobe_air_on_the_android_platf.html Last edited by mca; 04-23-2010 at 12:55 PM.. |

However, I don't see how google knifed Apple in the back. ...because they got into the phone market? ...did Apple knife Motorola in the back when they got into the phone market? I really think that Jobs sounded like a whiny beotch with his bemoaning google. Afterall, one of the 'killer apps' for the early iPhone was google-maps-mobile. If Google wanted to knife Apple in the back they would cease all google data to iPhones.

That is all interesting, but it isn't very on-point about Google and Steve Jobs' comments.
Don't get me wrong; I do think that google is on a path of being 'too evil' (as they say). But, Jobs being all offended that they got into such an obviously large market space .... pffft. Whah... Apple doesn't own the right to make smart-phones. --Did HTC beotch about Apple when HTC had their line of touch-screen phones long before the iPhone? (no) Whenever one of these big guys whines about not having a monopoly on a market space . . . ![]()

I think this is in reference to the CEO of Google being on the Apple Board of Directors during the time of development of the iPhone, apparently while developing their own device or mobile OS.

It is not about the product anymore, it is about a cult, a following.
It is about APPLELITES. The cult that supports Apple products. The Apple logo is like the Porsche logo, or the Ferrari logo etc. etc.. People just have to have it. It is the top of the line.

were the HTC phones (UI) any good before Apple came out with the iphone..... no, because none of the touch screen phones operating systems were any good,(they sucked), then Eric schmidt ( womanizing adulterer with no scruples) ripped it off, instead of giving his own engineers the task of coming up with their own fricken system , just easier to steal it . No way would they mess with the mighty Google. How the hell would you feel if I came into your house and stole your brand new tv and stereo system, or something really precious that you'd been working on for years, pretending to be your friend, good enough to get on the board of directors with pay and stock options and then you see me selling it to someone else... I bet you'd be a whinny ***** and more and I wouldn't blame you.... but that doesn't work because Apple is ahead of the game and does it all in house where it can optimize and innovate to make it better, the product is better and because of that it has a cult following. its in the international sales that apple is doing so well, I think you will see droid phones fall off that are selling through Verizon, not really an option since they don't have iphone. A customer of mine bought 1, played with my wifes 3gs and got pissed cause it was going to cost 200$ to Verizon and 100$ to google to opt out of her contract. The stock is 270 on it's way up, I know i'm happy. Apple makes other products too, its not just a 1 trick pony

Here is the truth.
I stayed away from Apple for a long time because they made an inferior product. At work (interactive ad agency) the macs were crashing regularly and were slow as dog. In the last 2 to 3 years Apple made a brilliant move. They crated the iPod. It was cool, pretty and reliable. They also had more impressive products to follow - iPod Touch and the iPhone. Again, theses were pretty, cool, enjoyable to use and reliable. Couple these great new products with superior advertising and Apple just won a huge new group of fans. It was truly brilliant. I work on an iMac (Windows 7 though), I have an iPod touch and two iPhones. But I am not a fan boy. I use the tool that works best. So while I think Apple will continue to dominate the portable music department, they may soon lose out in the other markets due to their "closed" nature. |

Apple stock is making my wife very happy. I wish they would update the air though so I can get a new one. As far as products I still have an SE30 that runs fine (yes I can't do much with it, but it still works like the day I bought it)
As far as Android (Do I owe Goerge for typing that?) Why would you want everything you type into your browser on your phone tracked by a company that roles over anytime someone asks for the data?
