Citrus Press

I have my doubts that a motorized citrus press like this one is all it's cracked up to be. I don't want to get this for my wife only to be disappointed. e.g., Is it effective in bursting the fluid filled cells, or will they accumulate in the strainer?
Please share your experiences, good and bad. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1261429159.jpg

Excellent, you need to be careful not to apply too much pressure or you get into the rind and make juice bitter.

Have a cheaper version, have been very happy with it...

Thanks for your feedback and the pointer Tobra.
futersoptions, may I ask the manufacturer of your cheaper version?

I'll be visiting William Sonoma tonight.

Thanks so much!

We have a Breville Juicer, very well made and super strong motor.

I also have an older Braun Citromatic juicer which is very good.

surrounded by citrus all my life. still have my moms simple "old style" OSTER. matter of fact one of our xmas traditions is picking all the tangerines and having fresh tangerine juice in our santa mugs on xmas day. and my oranges/lemos/tangerines are just about to be all picked in the next few days.

yummy!

Thanks guys! I'm really not as pesimistic as I seem in my original post. With all the positives here, I purchased the Breville press pictured above.
We will start our xmas day tradition like you ODDJOB. On Xmas morning we will juice 6 Florida grape fruit.

yummy stuff. have you tried RUM and fresh squeezed tangerine juice?

I picked up one from Walmart, I think, for ~$10 and it works great.

When I was a kid in the 1970's, we had one of those, except it didn't have a press at the top. You just pushed the fruit onto the top, and the switch clicked and the rotor spun. Worked great.

I have one sort of similar (in operation) to this

It is easy, but you don't get the same extraction as a rotating job, especially with larger fruits.

Mine is a black and decker, Mom has a Braun one that is probably 20 years old, she uses it A LOT, they have more than one orange tree. Neither has the press attachment, which I don't think you would need.

Here is mine, made in Mexico, bought deep in Mexico, less than a dolar, good for limes cause you need them for Mojitos. Note the rusty nail that connects the two pieces.
