Go after it, Schumi! SmileWavy

Saw last month's launch from Titusville...well worth going. The sound is incredible and the brightness of the rockets is way diff from watching on tv.

I remember watching the first flight land. What 29 years ago? I actually choked up with pride.

You must have been reading my mind. I also want to see a launch before their gone. I'll be checking NASA for a flight next spring and try to get down to see it. "When its gone, its gone".

When are they scheduled to be 'gone'?

strupgolf 12-26-2009 07:18 PM

I think there are only about 3 launches left.

5, actually. Next one is in February. Last night launch.

Here are the dates per NASA:

Feb. 7+ Endeavor
March 18+ Discovery
May 14+ Atlantis
July 29+ Endeavor
Sept. 16+ Discovery

Guess I'll try to make one of these....possibly the May Atlantis launch.
I'm 55 now and have grown up with the Space Program during my life.
Remember Mom waking me up in the middle of the night to see the astronauts walk on the moon.
Saw the 1st shuttle launch and landing on TV....or should say "glued to the TV."
yada yada...

Always regretted not being involved in the Space Program in one way or another.
Had the chance in college to work at Edward's Airforce Base in the rocket propulsion lab there for NASA.
Instead I did an oil & gas internship with AMOCO up in Wyoming.
Never looked back....
:D

Used to live in MLB - saw so many I lost track. The night ones are (were) the best. Awesome. There aren't really any bad spots to view launches from up around the Cocoa/Titusville area.

Coolest thing I ever saw was the shuttle coming in piggyback on the 747 - while I was up practicing maneuvers as a flight student. That was pretty cool seeing it from the air.

By the time it clears the launch tower it's already doing over 100 mph - straight up. That gives you some idea of the acceleration.

Well, I have visitor's center passes for the May 14th launch. I wanted causeway tickets but was unable to get them.

Still, should be fun.
