Using Outlook while traveling....

While traveling, I find that Outlook will download email messages when I use a foreign ISP, WIFI or an Aircard.....but I can't send using Outlook. The SMTP is obviously the culprit. I have to send by going to my personal ISP's website and send from their webmail interface.

NOW....I got a Verizon Aircard and I asked for the SMTP address and they tell me that they retired it.....fuch....anyone got a fix or a work around for this? I actually LIKE Microlimps Outlook....I'm used to it....

Part of the issue is the networks you are joining may be setting their own DNS which is what's screwing with your ability to send mail.

On the Verizon card you should not have this issue.

Meaning you don't need their SMTP settings, the one from your mail provider is all that's required.

You need to go to your account settings and have it do a log on before sending. You will notice quite a few settings similar to this. If this doesn't work, you need to call up your ISP and ask them what you need to do. Some require a non-standard port.

Who is your home ISP? Which e-mail service are you using?

Cox

Cox.net will not allow to send emails using their smtp (probably smtp.west.cox.net) outside of their network. Get a gmail account and use the gmail smtp while traveling.

Let me know if you need some quick instructions how to do it. ... and yes I am a cox user too
