..and the gf's xmas gift from me

So in addition to my new gf being a dentist she also loves on american iron! Her dad is a classic car mechanic, her 1st car was a 72 Nova.

So here is the back ground. I few months ago the gf and I were discussing getting her a classic to play with. She said she always wanted a 69-82 Corvette in Midnight blue because her Dad owned one when she was 15-16 yrs old and he never let her drive it further than the mailbox.

I'm not a big vette guy of any generation but I'm always opened minded about people preferences in classics.

About 2 weeks ago I'm at a local auction here in Fort Myers and sure is hell I spot a mint condition 81 vette, midnight blue with 76k original miles! I snatch it up for a really good price. Drive it over to her house and surprise her with it.

Its exactly what she wants, but the story gets better. She calls her dad the next day and tells him about the car. He asks a few questions about it, specifically the location of some under hood wiring and an auxilary switch for the vaccum headlights.....hmmmmm. So the weekend comes around and we drive down to Naples to meet him. He walks around the car twice, looking at the paint, under the hood and interior. Sure as *****, the same exact car he had 15 years ago!!!!

I hope she enjoys it as much I as enjoy sharing a story.

Terry, one of my coworkers is relocating to Naples (as long as we are near an airport, we can be pretty much anywhere), anywhoo, I sold my 1968 Buick Sportwagon 400 to him. Sometime this spring he is going to road trip it from Colorado to Naples. You will have to keep your eyes open for it.

Incredible story btw.

How is your Mopar coming along? I watched "Vanishing Point" last night, some nice Mopar's in it.

Sweeet. Looks great in that dark blue, too... probably my favorite color for a sports car.

I hope she didn't let her dad drive it. Payback and all that.

You bought a girl a Corvette? No chance you'll regret that one later.
