Name me a good Tequila for $40
I need to get a gift for someone. Wife informs me they are worth $40.
Help me brothers. |
I've always liked Don Julio, Cazadores and Sauza Centanario, they should be less than $40
|
Patron Silver at a discount place.
|
Not $40 tequila but I really like Sauza Hornitos. This goes for 25-29 bucks in Oregon. It doesn't suck.
Larry |
Aha Toro or Patron at that price point.
|
Around here Patron Silver is exactly $40 a bottle and is completely worth it.
Not to be consumed in any other form except neat, possibly with a lime and salt, but nothing else. Goes down like liquid candy. |
+1 on Patron
|
For the price I like Cazadores.

Cold Patron in a lowball on the rocks does it for me. I've had several nights start out that way.
It's so smooth you forget you're drinking the devil's mexican hell. |
Tequila does not agree with me, danced naked in the Gulf of Mexico one time.
Sauza Tres Generaciones is pretty damn good, only ever bought it by the bottle in Mexico |
El Tesoro. Wife isn't a drinker but she loves this tequila. It is very nice. Patron is always good too.
|
Corzo silver
Cabo Wabo Reposado Some people prefer silver over anejo, even that anejo is more expensive, so find out if they like really oaky tequila which would be anejo, tres generaciones has a great anejo, and I'm sure there is a small enough bottle to fit your budget. Cazadores is the most bang for the buck though... |
Cabo wabo is definitely my favorite though
|
+ 1 on the Cabo Wabo. I even like the Blanco they put out.
|
Can't go wrong with Cabo or Patron.
|
Luna Sueño Tequila Añejo.
|
Milagro Silver ~$26 most places and it doesn't disappoint.

I am a big fan of Corralejo reposado...smooth as a cheerleader's thighshttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1261666548.jpg

Patron Silver is always a solid choice.
The others listed would work also. I have most of all those in my bar at home. Also have some Partida Anejo for those colder SoCal nights. Souk, you still partaking in the agave? I thought after our midwest meet years ago that you would have moved on. ;) |
Nahh. I just stopped taking drugs with tequila ;). Alergy pills, empty stomach and taquila = soukus doing the Maximus nasty on Shawn's fence. LOL.
Merry Christmas Dan. And all.... Quote:

All the above will do the trick...
IMHO Sauza Hornitos is as good as any but not as expensive... Patron is good but also IMHO overpriced. YMMV Best I ever had was Corazón Tequila but after a quick web search I see it is over twice your price point. |
I know it is not tequila, but I like mezcal. I think it's the worm.
|
My favorite of the moment and fairly inexpensive is the Wild Harvested Agave Hacienda De Chihuahua Sotol Plata. This is so smooth and tasty it makes me want to get the party started just thinking about it and it is only 9am here in Colorado.

I'm a Tequila guy. I drink it straight, no rocks, no training wheels. 100% Agave is the baseline, if that's not on the label it doesn't even make it into a Margarita. Here's a little more info than you asked for.
Don Julio Anejo is the one I buy when I just want to enjoy a good Tequila. $45 http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1220850632.jpg My wife bought me a bottle of Don Julio Real when she told me that she was Pregnant. Unbelievably good, but the price makes it something that I probably wont buy again. $250+ http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1220850765.jpg Jose Cuevro Tradicional is the best bang for your buck Tequila out there, and it's a great Tequila for Margaritas. $20-25 http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1220851214.jpg Cazadores is another great Tequlia for the money, and the one that I drink the most. A little more than the Tradicional but worth it imo. $30 http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1220851393.jpg My all time favorite Tequlia is Don Julio 1942. WOW! It's not cheap, but man is it good. It's about 1/3 the price of Don Julio Real but oh so much better than all the others I've had. Don't let my small selection fool you, I've tried a lot of Tequila. Don't you dare put ice in it or heaven forbid throw it in a Margarita! $120 http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1220851660.jpg Try the Nectar of Gods, and try it without the shot glass for a change. |
Don Julio Anejo is very, very, very good...
Was my choice sipping Tequila for a long time... I'll be tempted to try the 1942 for a special occasion. Trying to stay away from the hard stuff and stick to beer and wine... I have a tendency to wake up in odd places if I drink too much high octane. |
901.
After you try 901 you'll wonder why you ever paid that much for Patron. |

+1 on Don Julio Anejo, Cazadores, or the Milagro Silver. Our local Costco sells all of them - the extra large bottle of Milagro is something like $40 and is a steal. I sip any of these straight, no ice or condiments.
|
i don't really think any teqiula tastes better, straight and warm, than Sauza Commeritivo. i don't drink any more, but have loved them all. tequila has a lower octane than many of the other choices, and it's not just for breakfast anymore.

I brought in a bunch of wine, I will be carrying out a few bottles of Cazadores. They sell it in Sams Club down here! |
"Name me a good Tequila for $40"
Real men drink Mescal. Send me the $40. |
I avoid Cuervo. I seek out Sauza.
|
I ended up getting him Patron Anejo. Not sure if its his style, but at least I can't be accused of being a cheap skate.
