Have been looking at those for a about a year now... Not bad for 20k and a donor C-5 and a G-50....

Like everything about it, the only thing that would make it better in my opinion would be a true targa top and to redesign the front end... I don't like that morphed Corvette/Camaro looking front... but it is growing on me...

I saw one at a cruise night last year, was the only guy who knew what it was. This guys had a vette engine mated to a G50 tranny. He said the body folks had a ton of work to do to it for a good fit & finish. But a very cooooool car.
A customer of mine does all the pretreatment & powder coating of Factory Five's frames.

Looks like a fun car to drive.

Ugly.

Anyone can make it fast. Its the beauty that cost you $150k+ extra.

Some aspects of the styling don't appeal to me but I do like the overall look.

Fabulously athletic car. But make sure you fit in it before you throw down money. Steve tried one and did NOT fit with any degree of comfort and his head was high enough that he couldn't have worn a helmet without putting his neck at around a 45 degree angle (with the top/side of the helmet jammed against the roof).

I saw one locally. From a distance, it was cool. Up close, I could see a million things that would bug the living **** out of me...the black around the headlights, windows wasn't even, gaps in the dash, etc. The guy that built it was really nice, he showed all the different things he'd done...leather dash, the way it was carpeted inside, etc. I think the concept of a kit car is cool, you can customize to your heart's content. I think the execution is where something ends up lacking. It still ends up looking like a kit car.

The real problem is how do you get rid of it when you're done? I see stuff on CL all the time where people have built a kit and let it sit forever and expect Porsche money out of the VW engine and fiberglass parts. What kind of resale value do these have?

LOL! never a dull moment with you guys around!

The "make sure it fits" reference is how the spyder became my car. Steve had test driven a standard spyder but on his car (the six cylinder) the bulkhead behind the seat is several inches further forward the longer six cylinder engine. Well, he fit the standard car and bought/paid for one that DIDN'T fit him...

But it fits me just fine! :p

Doesn't float my boat-I'd much rather build one of their Daytona coupes.
