Hey Gang - Any of you venture out to see Precious? I saw it tonight, with my sis and my parents...not a dry eye in the house...
Deeply Moving
Deeply Powerful
Deeply Disturbing
A Message to all of us..

Not your typical Hollywood, but highly highly recommended. Makes you appreciate your life and family.

That's weird. One of my "Film" friends is touting "Precious" as the most worthless pander film of the year. Haven't seen it myself to form an opinion, though.

i will go. well, i have to go. no other way to drag my SO to AVATAR, Sherlock, ..well lots of man-films on the way. i need leverage.

DonDavis 12-27-2009 08:36 AM

Pass. I'd rather go shooting in the desert.

BeyGon 12-27-2009 08:46 AM

I would rather watch bowling

Oprah Winfrey movie?

No way dude.....

Plus I already appreciate my family and my life.
Don't need Hollywood trying to alter any "personal" aspects of my life.

Action, adventure, and wild imagination is fine from Hollywood.
Anything else and I'll pass on it.

if you want to send a message, call western union.

Well made film.
Only thing is that it recounts a truth that exist for a segment of the population. Yes there are victims of a bad upbringing, but not societies fault it is just sad. Thing is you never really know who has overcome major obstacles to just be kind of normal, till you get to know someone...
She made me want to be her best friend...

Sounds like somebody went to see the film. (I haven't). And don't care.

S-n-R is the last one that needs a man card. He does have good taste in women (usually :>)), and is the only guy I know here that leaves his 89 Turbo on jacks while he re-engineers (he is one) the turbo, wastegate, brakes, wheels and intake to custom levels and it works, perfectly.

Not defending, just sayin'

I agree Luis.
But I don't know if I would ever be her friend.
Chances are, her and I would never be friends because of the way we look.
That's what I got out of the movie.

I didn't see it as race based as much as appearance based. I try to be nice to everyone but what I got out of the movie was someone that looks like that has to try so much harder just to be respected.

True her upbringing was a nightmare, and something like that will probably never be overcome. But it would be so much harder with the way she looked.
What I saw was an unattractive, black girl, never going to get a break in life.

She is going to be perpetually in the system because that is where the system want's her.

I liked the movie. There were times when I thought all the air was sucked out of the theatre. The whole place was so still.

P.S. I also like how some of the more 'proud to be ignorant' posters above refuse to see it.
