Quick Question about Asphalt Patch

I'm repairing my asphalt driveway and need to patch small sections. I bought a few sacks of asphalt, but it's like a big 60-pound rock and impossible to work with. It's been stored outside, where it's about 55 degrees today.

Is the asphalt too cold, or too old and forever hardened?

sounds like toast to me, unless you've got a melting pot?

Try to heat it up and see if it's still good. This stuff always works better when warm. I only use it in Summer.

No sense tossing it out without trying to heat it first.

Another question- How long has it been sitting?

I just bought it today.

Charlie, the Quickcrete brand that I use is hard as a rock.

I put it it the sunshine for a bit before I open the bag. Once I open the bag it crumbles and you can work with it.

hit it with a rosebud?

If you just bought it today, it just needs to be warmed up to become workable.

Do this or just wait until it gets warmer. You can't do anything with that stuff when it is cold. Also be sure to clean your pot holes out with a leaf blower so the patch material doesn't lift out.
