how are you spending new years??????

i just got off the phone with trader vics in snobbsdale,az. the bar opens at 4PM and din din(epicurean dee-lite) is starting to be served at 5pm.

since i worked there as a kid (13-14-15 or so) as a busboy/ barback i have ALWAYS LOVED THEIR FOOD AND DRINKS. have been to the one in denver when it was there, the one in palo alto and the one in chicago and the one in L.A.,the one in beverly hills and the one in MUNICH!

so kind of obvious i like the place. seems since i was a kid they fell on hard times, and reorganized. the one i worked at was shut down on 5th ave in snobbsdale and was closed until they reopened on main street in scottsdale a while back in a new location, at the hotel valley ho(LOL) which is about 4 blocks from where i grew up. used to deliver papers there and check out all the honeys by the pool.

so thats what the hell im a gonna do with soon to be wifey. have a giant assed scorpion or somoan fogcutter(how nautical), and then pig out on a PO PO(not POO) platter, and then see what the hell trips my trigger and PIG OUT!

1 drink, nice full belly(get in my belly) and im legal for the drive home before AMATEUR night gets under way and the DUI checkpoints are everywhere.

and thats how im gonna ring in the new year with my aluminum foil helmet on to protect me from morons lighting off their guns at 12 midnight!

happy new year

and "NO" i'm not letting the 911 be VALET PARKED!

I'm heading to a very nice restaurant with a leggy blond, then to a local establishment to celebrate the potential of the new year.

It's 7 PM, just finished dinner with the wife, black angus T-Bones, bottle of wine....smoked a very nice 18 yr old cigar with a 12 yr old scotch.....life is good!

About to cook a light and late dinner (just after 10.00pm here in Aus)...watching a natural light show off the back deck (storms forecast for tonight) AND giving 2 out of our 3 kids a musical education...pulled out the vinyl collection and have cranked up the excellent (but OLD) system to everything from Abba (having just watched Mamma Mia again) through Santa Esmeralda, Donna Summer, La Belle Epoque (the kids are saying "who"?) through Eagles, Phil Collins, the Stones, Eric Clapton with John Mayall...we got loads of vinyl and nothing IMHO sounds better ;). Kids are into it; big time - but I'm missing my oldest one Tom (17) - first year out of home and he's working tonight anyway (aspiring master chef)...

Youngest (Billy 10yo) has just pulled an armful of vinyl out the cupboard - looks like it's gonna be a long night :). Phil Collins on now...Billy Joel & Meatloaf lined up, more Stones....God I feel old :p.

Happy New Year guys and gals - may 2010 bring you joy, peace, happiness, health and wealth....CHEERS!!!!

Spending the night in Friday Harbor, San Juan Island, Washington with wife of 23 years, 21 YO son and 10 YO daughter. We'll have a good dinner, a couple of drinks and lots of coversation with my family. Doesn't get any better than this.

azasadny 12-31-2009 06:15 AM

We're spending tonight at home. The kids will be busy and we're having friends over and my wife is preparing Alaskan King Crab and other delights!

RPKESQ 12-31-2009 07:14 AM

Roaring drunk.

Porsche-O-Phile 12-31-2009 10:18 AM

Probably sleeping.

I hate crowds.

Large groups of people acting stupidly, then feebly attepting to blame it on alcohol don't appeal to me much either.

I'll probably go for a nice run tomorrow morning (doing something good for myself) while all the idiots are waking up hung over in pools of their own puke.

New Year's is a pretty stupid holiday when you get right down to it. Yeah, I'm thrilled to bid good riddance to 2009 (it sucked overall) but OTOH what really changes on Jan 1? It's just an arbitrary calendar page. We're still the same people with the same problems to confront and issues to deal with, right? So why pretend?

gprsh924 12-31-2009 10:53 AM

I don't disagree with the sentiment Jeff, but why so angry all the time. Relax and enjoy yourself.

Eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we'll die.

+1 on the idiots and crowds

No running for me. Blech!!

We are getting pizza for supper and will stay awake as long as possible or until midnight, whichever comes first. I do plan to buy a 6 pack of brewskis, however. We'll probably watch a movieand let the kids sleep downstairs if they choose. (can you say"New Year nookie"?):0

I'll drink a couple each night over the weekend.

BeyGon 12-31-2009 12:59 PM

Been fine chopping boiled eggs and onions, packing up the fish eggs and champaign, or sparkling wine to the french. A six pack of Blue Moon beer for the last Blue Moon on New Years till 2028. Got the fire wood in the vanagon and am just about ready to go to the beach and have a sunset by the fire. My wife and a couple friends. We will be back by 8. Quiet evening.

Not angry, just fed up with being surrounded by so much Stupid all the time. Sorry if it sounds cantankerous. Here's hoping that maybe 2010 will see the rise of "common" sense, "common" courtesy and "common" decency again - even if it's more likely that some of those shrieking howler monkeys will fly out of my azz.

;)

Have a good New Year's celebration - however you choose to spend it.
