The official Pelican Parts 'Biggest Loser' Contest Thread
Tracking grid:
Updated - 04-30-2007, 3:37pm, EST ![]() Ok folks, here it is. The Official Pelican Parts 'Biggest Loser Contest' thread. This contest has been inspired by a thread started by Nostril Cheese and participated in by many an overweight Pelicanite. Click here for that thread. So, phase one of the contest begins February 1st, and ends March 31st. Two months to see who can lose the most weight. Two weight loss calculations will be used: total weight lost, and percent of total body weight lost. Some details: Start date: February 1st End date: March 31st Day 1 (February 1st) requirements: 1. Post a series of photos - wearing a white t-shirt and black shorts, post three pics: one front view, one profile view, one back view. Faces not needed. 2. Post your gender, age, and height 3. Post up your weight on February 1st. If possible, this and all subsequent weigh ins should be done first thing in the morning. 4. Post up your target weight. (2 month target as well as long term final target) During the week, feel free to post your diet and exercise strategies, your accomplishments and failures...etc. Given the amount of encouragement that was shown in the original thread, I don't think we need to worry about getting made fun of -- we're all in this together, and we're all basically in the same boat. Every Thursday between February 1st and March 31st, you will be required to post the following: 1. Your current weight. 2. How many pounds you shed. 3. Percent of total body weight that you lost. 4. How many pounds you have to go to get to your (2 month) target weight. Thursday weigh ins will occur on: 2/8, 2/15, 2/22, 3/1, 3/8, 3/15,, 3/22. and 3/29. On the final day (3/31) you will be required to post the following: 1. Pictures, round two: same set: front, profile and rear wearing a white t-shirt and black shorts. 2. Your starting weight. 3. Your current weight. 4. Pounds you lost. 5. Percent of total body weight that you lost. 5. How close you came to your target Winners will get bragging rights, and a prize yet to be determined. (Maybe Wayne can give the winners some type of discount... ![]() If you want to join this contest, simply do the requirements outlined above, and post the info here. So, let the losing begin! -Z-man. PS: I think Nostril Cheese deserves a big thank you for stepping up and having the courage to start the original thread and get us going the right way. Thank you, Nostril Cheese! Edited - added new folks to the list.

I may be in on this. I have 22 minutes to suck down all of the chocolate ice cream in the freezer, finish all the scotch, and throw out last night's fried chicken.
I'll weigh in in the morning. |

My picture may have to wait until tonight when I get home, but my official morning weigh in was........328lbs
![]() My two month target is 40 lbs or 288lbs. Long term target is <220lbs. I want to use 220 as my high water mark much the way "the" has described his do-not-cross line. I'm a big framed guy and @ 6'2" so under 200 is not very likely ever. Best of luck all.

on new years day, 2007, i was at 270, that straw broke the camels back. no wonder my joints and back were getting worse!!
Today, i weigh in on the same scale at 253.0, in shorts and sox and sunglasses(to protect the innocent).. I took pix today, , but no download software on this computer. i will post them in a couple days. Till today, my changes have been reduction of fat intake, and limited beer. I do crunches in bed each A.M.(just 20), and walked about 2 miles daily till the ice storm hit, then no real exercise for the past 15 days. This is going to make me exercise anyway. 10 years ago i was running 6 miles daily (every day, and sometimes 12 miles if i felt good) and lifting for an hour a day, and i weighed 210. 38 inch jeans waist. size 12 shoe. now i am 44 jeans, and size 13 shoe. Good luck and encouragement to everyone involved in this effort towards preserving your health!! dr tom

I'll post pics tonight. I'm 47, 5'11", 207. I'd like to get down to 175lbs, so 32 pounds to lose. I plan on hitting the gym 3-5 times a week, lifting for muscle tone and interval training on the treadmill. I workout first thing in the A.M., drink 3 scoops whey protein w/ water on the drive to work, eat 2 hardboiled eggs and lowfat cottage cheese for breakfast, chicken breast/asparagus/brown rice for lunch and salmon/grilled veg/rice for dinner. Snacks are usually fruit or more HB eggs. Cutting out the beer is probably my biggest downfall.

I bought one of these Breville grills for my wife for Christmas and it works out real well for making quick lunches and dinners. You can make chicken/fish and grilled vegetables in 10 minutes.

Ok,
So I had a wake up call in September when we went to Mexico. I looked at the pictures and realized that I was killing myself slowly and that if I did not start now I would probably die of a heart attack by 50 (bad heart history in my family). I started October 1st so I will not be in the contest here but I will track my progress with you guys. I still have many goals that I want to achieve by March 31st and then June 10th. (leaving for a once in a lifetime vacation that I am not going to look bad for!). So here are my stats for Z-mans table above. 39 years old, 5'11", 2 month target weight is 175 lbs with MORE muscle mass, current weight this morning is 183 still heavy for me. My starting weight on October 1st was 205-207 area (same as in pictures), I will post a couple of vacation pics (don't get scared) just to help inspire myself and show you guys that I really was heavy and then I will add some "official" style pics later today. You will be able to see a difference. Everyone here can do this, I have faith in all of us!!!! This is such a great community that we should be able to help keep everyone enthused and on target. I am the one in the pics with the tattoo on the shoulder (faces have been protected for embarrassment) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Here are pics from today, same red shorts as the above pictures except above I could not tie them and had to leave them real loose in the waist. Now they fit loose when tied ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
