Berkley HS to cut Science Labs because of underperforming students?

Quote:

Berkeley High School is considering a controversial proposal to eliminate science labs and the five science teachers who teach them to free up more resources to help struggling students.
AYFKM? 'Sorry guys, we have too many underperforming students so you'll have to make due with a 9th grade education so we can catch them up.'

The Berkeley way...

Competitiveness doesn't matter in a society where everyone's a "winner" and everyone gets a trophy just for showing up, right?

One more reason I'm glad I got off the sinking ship that is the People's Republik of Kalifornia.

Unlike every other civilized country (except for third world, of course), the USA has adopted the lowest-common-denominator approach to education.

It started in Hawaii, and was really developed in California. Comes from adjusting the pace and quality of education to take into account the lowest performing strata. The ones that scream racism or prejudice when a level standard cannot be maintained.

It didn't happen in the schools. It only showed up there.

It started at home. Second and third generations (occurring every 13 to 15 years) fostered it.

We, as a society, allowed it for P.C.'s sake.

The bill is coming due.
