Deceived by Tigerdirect.com

I generally don't slam other companies, but this is deserving. I am looking to upgrade my video card on my new HP computer. Call Tigerdirect just to check with my model the correct card. The salesman tell me there are two cards that would fit, both 1gb. One is $75, the other is $109, but with rebates and some software, it equals the same. When I repeatedly ask for the part number of the higher priced cards in the search feature of the site, it comes up with nothing listed. I keep telling him this and he offers no explanation. The other video card comes up no problem. I mistakenly take his word and place the order. Later when I get the order confirmation, (not immediately but hours later) I still can't check the card. This morning, I check again and the card is a 512mb, not the "identical" 1 gb card he was comparing it to. Also, the software that went with the card for $30 is just some throw away maintenace software like Ccleaner that you can get for free. He made it sound as if it was integral the the card. I called back this morning, demanded they send a return shipping order and questioned why this happened. Tiger Direct has a pretty long history, but this was so deceptive, I question who else this has happened to. I'll order from Amazon in the future.

Every company has lousy salespeoplen the key is how companies fix their mistakes. Hopefully TD will own up to their mistakes. Good luck.

Yep, my guess was that the salesguy was either to lazy or too stupid to really check the specs on the card and just thought that he knew them, or there is some internal promotion on the card he pushed you to and he wanted it.

Either way, it sounds like a bad salesguy and not something systemic (yet).

I have seen a lot of complaints about Tigerdirect on PC forums last year. It seems their customer service has gone downhill. I would stick with NewEgg, but even they have been doing some price gouging last year on the new ATI video cards & the Intel SSDs.

I've ordered often and this was more then a salesman's mistake. Seems to me that the are trying hard to get rid of these cards and hoping the buyer won't care. A simple mistake happens, but they way this went down was very deceptive. Had I ordered online, this would of never happened because I could never pull up the part number to begin with.
