Quick Q about a BMW 800GS

Does it come with an SAE power connector from the battery? I'd like to be able to charge devices during the big Oz trip (in 2 weeks!! Anyone know Perth well?)

Thanks and feel free to offer up any tips for a 4000 mi tour across Australia. Yes, I know I'll need lots of water, butt cream, and bug spray...

I'm sure it comes with the BMW powerlet outlet. You can buy adapters for that at cyclegadgets.com. I hardwire some stuff on mine as long as it has an inline fuse.

The little GS I rented in Austria had one by the ignition switch, I don't remember if it took that type of connector or the round one. It was only rated for 5 amps and my Gerbings jacket pulled more than that. I hardwired to the battery.

Great, thanks.

I have the SAE connector-to-cigarette lighter adaptor I'm planning on using.

You won't be able to run an electric vest through the electrical buss system. You must hard-wire (w/fuse), as per your picture.

there's also a female plug connector under the center "gas tank" panel for which BMW sells a male connector/length of wiring to attach accessories. This leaves the power outlet adjacent to the ingition switch available for secondary items.

Ah..thanks for this.

I'll go by the stealer today and see what they have. Should have done that from the start.

In lieu of butt powder: Sheepskin Buttpads - Motorcycle Seat Covers for Added Comfort!

Have a great time!
