I'm coming into town late Wed. and will be there Thurs. night too. Friday I go to Anaheim to the NAMM show and come back to LA Sun., will be there Mon. night too. Probably staying in Pasadena this time, but will be on the bike, so very mobile. Anyone?

Haven't booked anything yet. Might stay in San Gabriel to be closer to real Chinese food. But I'll be in downtown LA each of those days and can hang after my meetings. Just want to find a place that's central for everyone. I really want to eat at Canter's at some point on this trip.

There's a couple cool Irish bars near Canters on Fairfax. Or we could grab beers in Farmer's Market on Fairfax instead of the bar scene. Parking would be easier for sure.

I'm going to try to go down to Anaheim either Thursday or Friday evening for the "bass bash" at a local restaurant. I don't have NAMM passes this year so no show for me.

I'm OK with Canter's, but all my Angeleno friends tell me it's overrated and that there are better delis in town. Do they still have a Tuesday night open mike night/jam session there?

The Tues. night jam in the Kibbitz Room, (the bar), is my old friend Morty's deal. I know most of the guys who show up there to play. There are a plethora of choices for places to meet in Hollywood.

Great. Fxeditor, I know the places in SG well. Unfortunately, I won't be there on Sat. or Sun. for dim sum. Sure love New Capital Seafood. Yunan Garden is awesome for dinner. Nostatic and I ate there a while back. I just want to see what all the hype about Canter's is about. I'm up for anything though. Probably won't arrive in time to hang Wed., but definitely would like to Thurs. I don't know if BW911 posts on Pelican anymore, but he's an old buddy from the DC area who lives in Irvine now. I'm staying with him Fri. night, but will be in Anaheim in the afternoon on Friday, all day Sat. and most of Sunday at NAMM. Denis, haven't seen you in a while. You gotta see my new bike.

I've played the Kibbitz room a few times. Getting to Hollywood/central LA is a pita. All depends on where you're staying. The "usual Irish spot" is Tom Bergin's on Fairfax (at least in Pelican history).

Yep. Bergin's was the other place. All the other bars I know of around the are are rather fru-fru.

BTW: if one wants to be real adventurous, we should eat at the Pantry downtown.

Rick, you don't need a weekend for top flight Dim Sum! Places like Sea Harbour and King Hua serve it 7 days a week!!

Sounds good Hugh, I'm not tied to Universal anymore. I was laid off in February and am now freelance so I can meet you anywhere! Maybe we can meet up with a few of the other Socal guys? Let's plan it when you get back.
