your opinion
I took my truck to the dealer for my 3000 mile oil change service.
Included is a multi-point inspection. Fluids, tires, belts, etc. On the checklist is a space for headlights. Checked OK. I come home from work three hours later with the headlights on and my wife says the passenger side is out. Did they do the check? KT

The problem with checklists is people get so used to looking at them, that they get complacent. I remember reading about an airline crash caused by the pilot and co-pilot rushing through the checklist and neglecting to turn on the de-ice.. so no I doubt the shop really took the time to test your headlights.

Yes, they saw it was working, unplugged it and wanted you to come back in to have it plugged back in so they can bill you for the hours and part you do not need.

Most filaments burn and break when they are subjected to a thermal shock (turning on and off).
Could have just been your unlucky day. Look at it this way. Cost for you to change the bulb? McParts discount price. Cost for the dealer tech to change it with a full retail-priced bulb? You are way ahead, whether they checked it or not. |
