2000 BMW 528...speedometer quit working
Tried posting in the BMW side of pelican but not a lot of hands on input. Buddy has a 2000 528 and speedo began to work intermittently. Finally stopped working altogether. Is this likely the sensor? Is it located on the drive shaft? How to test rather than just throwing parts at it?

Sensor in the diff. They break wires too.

Is the check engine light on? If not the cluster may have just pooped...........

On the 3 series the speedometer gets its reading from the wheel speed sensor located on the passenger side rear wheel. You might also want to check the fuse. The speed sensor is number 5 in this parts diagram.

I have had to replace the left rear speed sensor on two other bmw's to remedy the same problem ( one was a 740 il, and the other was a 3 series ) should all function the same way. I think that the abs light was on on the 7 series at the same time.
