My Weekend

Busy weekend.

Friday:

-Done with work @ 10:45
-Went out to lunch with friends
-Got truck washed
-Got estimate for dented bumper (I backed into a light pole concrete pylon that didn't have a light pole on it--and thus I was unable to see through my rear or side mirrors--while backing into a parking space at a Panera on Thursday).
-Got my Florida CCW permit application notarized and mailed.
-Bought paint for the computer room and lumber for a step from my back door down to the patio.
-Went to gym. Bench pressed 365 lbs. for the first time!
-Kicked back and watched the last episode of Dollhouse and the second episode of Caprica.

Saturday:

-Went to 5 open houses. Found one house that we both have some interest in.
-Called a contractor to get a ballpark on adding a third garage bay to said house. ($7,500! Seems like a good deal to me.)
-Attached a 2" x 12" x 12' pressure-treated board to the back of the house to mount the steps to. Using my impact wrench to drive eight 6" galvanized lag screws took all of 5 minutes. It would have taken me a couple of house with a ratchet.
-Built the step assembly in the garage.
-Had a friend over to watch Venture Brothers Season 4 that I have on my DVR.

Sunday:
-Redacted.
-Went to church.
-Went to 3 open houses. Found 2 more houses we like. One will probably sell before the week is over. (Owners just lowered the price from $249 to $209, taking it from overpriced to a real bargain.)
-Attached step to house.
-Cut and attached siding to fill in rest of gap where porch used to mount to house. (Porch used to attach to a 2" x 12" x 16', so I had a 4' gap to fill.)
-Primed back door, back window, and new siding. It will probably take a day to dry considering that the high was 33º today.
-Intermittently caught some of the 24 Hours of Daytona on TV.
-Cooked two ribeyes for dinner.
-Crashed in front of TV, could only find "How It's Made" to watch...

Now, in the same weekend, my wife:
-Organized her scrapbook room and got it prepped for painting (which involves filling and sanding spots where the cheap paint the PO used is flaking off).
-Filled several boxes of clutter to take to the storage space.
-Primed a spot in the computer room that I had to tape and fill because of drywall seam cracking.
(She did the inside work while I was doing the outside work.)

The house should be ready to sell in two weeks!

It's amazing how going to open houses motivates us to get stuff done.

My Saturday - Oddjob Uno comes to flatbed my 993 and rebuilt tranny to a shop in the hood that's letting me rent a lift for the day for $100. Eric Coffey and I then spend eight hours reinstalling my tranny, one hour of which was driving around trying to source a bearing that we lost off the cross shaft. Patrick Motorsports had it for $20. Another hour spent trying to mate the tranny up the motor before we remembered to play with the output flanges. Boom. Done. Buttoned her up and ...... gear shifter is locked, feels like it's welded into place. Shop was closing, so I had to leave it there. Will be flatbedded to Patrick's tomorrow. Long, frustrating, expensive day.

Seriously? You had time to have lunch with friends, work out, watch TV, Cook, took a couple days to get steps done, & went to church, plus the few other bs things in there.... Doesn't sound busy to me at all, but recreational... Wanna trade? Have fun and enjoy life! Real work will catch up with you someday..... LOL!

We had about a 1/2" of ice, followed by 2" of sleet that froze solid, followed by like 4" of snow... Pack all that on the roads and you've got an ice rink.....
