UK police ask people to use common sense

As a counter-position to my previous nannny-state posts about the UK, I offer the following bit of news just out:

Source clicky linky

Quote:
Devon and Cornwall Police released the picture as a warning to other motorists.

The force is asking drivers to use common sense after a member of the public photographed the "extreme example" in Tiverton, Devon.

The elderly woman, who is not being identified by the force, was driving along Lea Road on January 6 to pick up food and medication.

She was spoken to by officers who also provided her with an ice-scraper.

So there, the UK is not so bad after all.

I see that all the time here the morning after a snowfall.

I myself haven't scraped a window since I bought the Silverado. I just use the remote start, and if that doesn't clear the windsheild, the heated washer fluid will....

I guess that's one way to avoid the speed cameras.

Learned my lesson about that one at a young age. Lazy, lotta snow, did not clean off the roof, started raining, snow got wet and heavy so stayed up there, left lane 495 LIE had to brake check, everything slide off the roof, covered the windshield, broke the wiper arms, had to drive hanging head out of the window like some demented dog.

Good way to s**t yourself.

LOL. My buddy's dad used to do that when we were in High School. When it snowed, he drove around in an old Ford pickup with about a 4x6 inch hole scraped out. He'd lean forward and look through it like a U-boat commander looking up the periscope.

That's really not much worse than when the windows fog up in my 911. You know the drill - wipe the windshield with a towel every 30 seconds until you've made it to an open road where you can maintain some revs...
