Thursdays Thought
The issue of the Republics sustainability is now rearing its evil head even in the mainstream media...Some would not be surprised if the Democrat Party were to ursp the coming mid term elections in some fashion. Perhaps with Chuckie Schumers new electronic voter registration bill?
However the Democrats face two very real obstacles in achieving their nefarious wet dreams...even if they don't fully realize the consequences of their actions. 1. The USA has gained the confidence of the world as a nation that is governed by laws.. this has translated into economics. If the Democrats were to suddenly pull a fast one the ramification through out the world would be to lose the worlds confidence in America and the very notion of Democracy itself. In other words it would be a very BLACK DAY...the words are fragmentation and chaos in the world economy translating into politics both at home and abroad. 2. With the Internet and Cell Phones it is extremely difficult to suppress information. This is largely the reason why the last ditch coup of the Communists in Russia failed in 1991. 3. There is no telling what the American people would do if any Party attempted such a manuever... A. There are a great number of competing forces in the world and in the USA that largely will thwart any one faction from gaining dominance.

Tabs is right, things could get VERY interesting. The Dems are pushing the limits and should they do something silly (or get caught doing it, as I suspect they are already trying some of them now) life might get very basic for a while.
There is a reason why the gun and ammo sales have been so high lately. Tabs is not the only one seeing this going on...

We now have mainstream media figures like Tom Friedman of the NYT stating that Democracy can not solcve big problems and perhaps a benolvant dictatorship like Chinas is the optimum way to go...
Now to be honest I have postulated on this Board that perhaps Democracy will be thrown on the scrape heap of history as a failed notion..However it is my belief that the American Democratic process is not broken it is the amoral ethics of those in power whose mentality of the ends justifty the means or the only thing that matters is winning. that is wrong. Unfortunatley th eonly thing that will stop this pervasive ethich that infects both political parties is when the monhey runs out.

Simple pleasures for simple people. With the end of consumerism and the coming secular Roundhead Revolution of doing with less ethos you will be easy to please.
