Window Pmags are fine, but not necessary IMO.

The 20 rds mags are nice too. For paper targeting you really don't need 30 rds. But then the 30 rd mags make a nice unipod for bench shooting.

Ok, so since you guys are answering questions (thank you),

If you were going to spend $6-700, would you buy a BB from CMMG, or would you buy a NIB Del-Ton?

Either one makes good weapons. I'd just go with whichever cost less.

I'd buy the 18" CMMG BB rifle and spend the rest on a BUIS sight and mags + ammo.

The 18" is also chomelined for durability and easy cleaning.

Here is the downer on the Del-Ton that Soukus posted:

I don't think that means you have to be a FFL. You'll need an FFL to receive the rifle no matter what. That's likely what that means. Just line up an FFL first. (chances are an FFL in your area is already on file with AIM.)

Byran, the principle at AIM can address your concerns. Email AIM and he'll reply quickly.

You have to get it shipped to a local gun store since you don't have an FFL you cannot take direct shipment.

That's all that means.

Just call a few local gunshops, and ask them how much they want to accept delivery for you. Also keep in mind that you may have to pay for an instant check too at the time of pick up.

I have a friend who's an FFL so that isn't an issue. I have my CCP, so the instant check isn't required either.

So if you want to order the Delton, have your friend fax a copy or email a copy of his FFL to AIM. Then you order the rifle and indicate which FFL it is to shop to. You can always call AIM. They are friendly and good to work with.

Leaning towards this advice...

I can't see it mentioned in the CMMG description, but the 18" barrel may also be a midlength gas system which is suppose to be smoother and more reliable than the carbine gas system of the 16" barrel. Most 18" barrels are midlength. Best to call CMMG, but it won't matter that much if it is or not.

18" is the barrel length of the US Military SPR SDM rifle.

I personally think 16" carbines are perfectly smooth and reliable.

So I should be good to go either way?

Yes. An 18" AR for $600 is a great deal.

Yeah, either way you're good.

Another pelican just sent me a PM- after reading my 995 post he was interested in picking one up. Turns out they're considered "Assault weapons" in Kali and are illegal.

WTF, over....i thought you could buy AR's and Mini's in Kali. Why would the 995 be illegal. Makes no sense!

Go with the CMMG BB rifle over a Del-Ton. I have both and the CMMG is a bit nicer. You really can't beat the bargain bin rifle.

The 18" barrel is rifle length FWIW...
