Meditations for Men who do too much: - Motivational Quotes
I've got this small book that has quick/short daily page quotes of thoughts and wisdom that I occasional flip to that days page. Some of them are very good, insperational, and thought I'd share.
It's cheap, less than $5 off of Amazon. Google it "Meditations for Men who do too much" (a fireside meditation book) Amazon.com: Meditations for Men Who Do Too Much (A Fireside/Parkside Meditation Book) (9780671759087): Jonathon Lazear: Books I'm sure this thread may get basterdized and tangented, but anyone else feel free to make a quote or spell bind us with words of wisdom....go for it.Yesterdays Quote was from Benjamin Franklin (A good friend to have lots of them in your wallet) but often you are richer if you enjoy and appreciate what you own than the sheer numbers of Uncles Benji's you may have. January 13th: "Wealth is not his who has it, but his who enjoys it. - Ben Franklin Acquisition, Ownership, Public Display of wealth. These are words and concepts that speak to the man who has made it but doesn't really know what to do with it. Alone the King is in the Counting house, counting out his money, but it is a lonely picture. Great wealth for the sake of great wealth is an indication of a bankrupt man. We all have been so caught up in acquisition that we often don't know what to do with it nor why we even have it. We are gluttons - men with endless appetites for the window dressing that proves our wholeness. Today I will look to the people in my life who give me the wealth of kindness and understanding rather than to the things I've acquired over the time I spent filling my life with possessions" and one more (flipping ahead to May 3rd which I have marked) “Nice guys may finish last, but we get to sleep in…….” - Evan Davis Who said life was one big race, who really cares who comes in first anyways? Too many of us get caught up in our careers and professions. Competition in life, in all aspects of it, is totally draining. It leaves us without any emotional or intellectual reserves. What’s the big deal with speed and power? Does everything need to be measured, Calibrated, How fast does your car go, how long did it take you to get there, did you get there first? Why can’t we all just run the marathon for the exercise and pleasure of the journey instead of the destination? Being nice or not, I don’t want to be measured by my peers or by myself every time I undertake a project whether at work or home. I won’t compare my performance today against anyone else’s; I’ll work or play at my own pace for my own pleasure and motivations. Read into it what you will, not saying I agree with everything above, but gives you something to reflect upon. So there it is....... ![]() ![]() happy smiley hugs to everyone. ![]() __________________

Yeah me too
I'll have to research the good doctor and see what he's published.a couple from BIGRob's library... He that is of the opinion money will do everything may well be suspected of doing everything for money - Benjamin Franklin Don't simply retire from something; have something to retire to. - H. Fosdick The fastest way to succeed is to look as if you're playing by somebody else's rules, while quietly playing by your own. - M. Korda In the business world, everyone is paid in two coins: cash and experience. Take the experience first; the cash will come later. - H. Geneen Remind people that profit is the difference between revenue and expense. This makes you look smart. - S. Adams Don't worry about people stealing your ideas. If your ideas are any good, you'll have to ram them down people's throats. - H. Aiken All lasting business is built on friendship - Alfred A. Montapert Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power. - Abraham Lincoln Money amplifies a man's character - anonymous I rate enthusiasm even above professional skill. - Edward Appleton For a lot of people, the weekly paycheck is "take home pay" because home is the only place they can afford to go with it. - Charles A. Jaffe Contemplate yourself surrounded by the conditions of which you wish to produce. - Dr. Wayne Dyer A business that makes nothing but money is a poor business. - Henry Ford My favorite: If you can count your money, you don't have a billion dollars. - J. Paul Getty HA! HA! Hope you enjoy....... meditate often, think only of what you want. Oh yeah my personal quote: |

For the runners:-
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster And treat those two imposters just the same… If you can fill the unforgiving minute With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run – Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it, And – which is more – you’ll be a Man, my son! - Rudyard Kipling, “If”

Rusty, thanks for posting those, but as they say, 'Pearls to swine...'.'
Ben Franklin was a wise man, recognized and quoted 200 years after his life... how many living today will accomplish that?

"To be good is noble, but to teach others how to be good is nobler and less trouble. "
an expression I like: Every day is a blank cheque. You hold the account, you pay whoever, for whatever you want, for as much you want. How do you want to spend it?
