Does anyone know any bar or restaurant w/bar owners in LA?
Or does anyone here know anyone who is a bartender/bar back/bar owner/restaurant business owner in LA?
I went to bartenders school this past summer and have yet to land a job? Everyone I talk to says you have to know somebody in the business to get started and I am on the verge of desperation for a good part time or full time night job. I already invested a good amount in the class and don't want to give up on the investment. So if anyone here could help a fellow pelican out I'd be ever so grateful aka (drinks on me) ......crossing fingers -sammy

I hear Dueller knows someone who owns a bar in Mississippi. I'm sure Byron knows some bar owners in Jacksonville.

I frequent several bars in the Los Angeles area however I am not best buddies with any owners. I will keep you in mind if I see anything, however my drinking holes are mostly in the San Pedro/Long Beach area.
Have you checked the Long Beach Edwards theater complex? They have three or four restaurants with bars there.

I will ask my friend if he is hiring. His place is in MArina Del Rey so it would be a bit of a drive for you.

if you do not know anyone in the biz, I would go back to the school immediately and go thru their placement service to get a foot in the door somewhere, ie catering, local Moose or Elks, or Shriners club, eateries, etc. Even if you start out serving tables, eventually, someday a bartender is not going to show up for work...again... and you will be there to step in.
Also, join the Moose, Elks, Shriners, VFW (don't have to be a vet anymore).

I will drive anywhere in the LA are to get started, so any help would be great.
The school I went to sends out email blasts for places that are hiring and they dont help you get a job they just tell you where huge cattle calls are, its pretty rough. I will look into it more.
