World's deadliest jobs!

Jan 21, 2010 6:58 pm US/Eastern
Pizza Deliveryman Shot, Killed During Robbery

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―

A pizza deliveryman was shot and killed during a robbery in the Belmont section of Philadelphia.

Authorities say the victim, who works for Accu Pizza, was shot while making a delivery at 41st and Aspen Streets at about 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Police arrived to find 36-year-old Kouakou Jacques of Upper Darby lying in the street with a gunshot wound to the neck. Jacques was rushed to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he died.

This is the second time in the last two weeks that a pizza deliveryman has been robbed and killed. On January 11, Jaime Orozco-Torres, 60, suffered a fatal heart attack after being carjacked and robbed while making a delivery in West Oak Lane. Four teens were arrested in that incident.

Police say they have no suspects in the latest deadly robbery and ask anyone with information to contact authorities.

--------

I used to deliver pizzas i my late 20s to augment my day job. It's a good easy way for anyone that wants to earn an honest living to make about $100 for a six hour shift.

That is, until the natives attack. This is one of those jobs like Taxi cab driver that no one realizes is really dangerous in a big city.

I was from the main line so it wasn't that bad but didn't take too much walking to find it.

We had a pizza delivered to a rental house we were working on recently , and the deliveryman was packing, and they were also riding 2 per car.
Back when I delivered , ( 20 some years ago) we would carry the whole nights purse in our little money bag, sometimes as much as $500 , and never thought anything of it. Nowadays , some one will cap you for $20.

Where i am was once a really nice, clean, solid middle class area. It's why i'm here. I'm one of the holdouts who has yet to leave.

Philly or Port au Prince?

Now that would be tough choice.

There are still some really nice spots here, actually. But much of it, yeah....it might as well be Haiti.

You know you live in a rough area if you can't get pizza delivered. That's usually the end result - most places just don't hassle to deliver to the nasty part of town. Only Papa Johns used to deliver to where I used to live.
