Anybody belong to a private club?
Looking at a city club....not a country club, but one of those social clubs with the restaurants, bar, banquet room, etc. This particular one has a pretty nice exercise facility, and I guess the occasional free downtown parking and place to grab a "classy" drink would be nice perks.
Anybody belong to one of these deals?

Yes.
I helped found one of these some years ago, and got a lifetime membership for my trouble. That club has since become an affiliate of an international club group with branches in many major cities worldwide, with the result that I have access to a gym and a good dining room in almost any city you care to name. If you travel a lot, look for a club that had reciprocal rights with other clubs as part of a larger network. It's a hell of a convenience.

Have in the past and really enjoyed. Do not live in that town now and kinda miss the place.

Yes, makes for a great extra office with great meals, also good for date nights.. Dottore hits it right on the head, ours offers the same perks, plus a great view of the city..

the place I'm looking at has over 180 reciprocal agreements....I think I'm going to pull the trigger on this one. The date thing would be perfect, too. I don't live downtown, but our club is literally in the city center, so it's within walking distance of EVERYTHING. they offer free parking downtown for members, etc.
Thanks guys.

I had a Club 33 membership at Disneyland for a while through a place I worked ( Club 33 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ). There is NO WAY I'd actually pay that kind of cash for a membership like that but having one given to me was great! I was doing a lot of work at DL at the time and having access to a private club was a great escape from the chaos of the park. The food was spectacular and it is the only place inside Disneyland where you can get a drink! As has been mentioned by others, it was also a terrific place to take a date.
Good luck with your membership, Michael

Wait, you can't get a drink on Disney property?! OMG, I would think the parents would desparately want booze after dealing with zillions of kids, and lines, and cost....wow.
On topic, I have never been a member, but I have dined at a club. Very nice.

I would never join a club that would have me as a member.

Yes, Washington Athletic Club(WAC). Nice downtown location. 2 restaurants and a pub. Wireless throughout. Nice place to meet clients.

It depends on what Disney park you're at. No alcohol is allowed at Disneyland, the Magic Kingdom in Orlando, or Tokyo Disneyland. All the other parks serve booze. In fact when I work at the Florida parks, I take my crew on a "pub crawl" of all the different country pavilions at EPCOT. I can tell you a good time is had by all! ![]()
