.357 and .38 ammo recommendations for fun

Finally found the key for the trigger lock on the S&W 27-2 I was recently entrusted with (do we really OWN firearms?).

Jeebus. I knew it felt nice but now that i get to play with the trigger and such....well i'm a believer. Unreall how nicely it breaks when manually cocked!

So, what el cheapo plinking ammo do i want to get for this thing? Looking for a range of prices I should expect to pay locally.

Thanks!

I started shooting (small-time) competition with my S&W Model 67 this year.

The most accurate ammo, by far, is my handloaded 138 grain semi-wadcutters.

I've tried just about every brand, every bullet weight, and every bullet type (lead wadcutter, lead semi-wadcutter, FMJ ogive, jacketed hollowpoint, etc.). Nothing beats the lead semi-wadcutter.

Generally the most accurate target loads in .38 special are full wadcutters. Whatever is cheapest is the best plinking round.

Be careful with wolf, i think a lot of it is corrosive.

Oh, while we're on the subject, IMO the best defensive ammo for -any- caliber of sidearm is .357 magnum 125 gr semi jacketed hollow point from either Remington or Federal.

Well took the S&W out with the KZ45 today for a few hours with my neighbor who brought his new Glock .45.

I gotta say though i can shoot better with the KZ i REALLY like the feel of the S&W. Just a super fun gun to shoot. Was shooting 38spl +p so don't know how .357 would compare.
