I wouldn't blame Peterson either. It was a complete team fumblitis effort.

The Saints are going to get crushed in the Super bowl.

carambola 01-25-2010 02:45 PM

how many seconds after the quarterback throws the ball is a defensive player allowed to fire off on him?

m21sniper 01-25-2010 02:51 PM

1 step.

carambola 01-25-2010 02:56 PM

so if the defensive player is flying through the air after one step, that doesn't count

m21sniper 01-25-2010 03:00 PM

defender cannot take more than 1 step to hit the QB. Also cannot hit low, hit with the helmet, or hit the head.

at least they get to go!

for a team that has been homeless, that is a big increment

carambola 01-25-2010 03:06 PM

tell you what, i'm an eagles fan have been since birth, have a great uncle who was once called the dirtiest player in the nfl, and some of those hits seemed pretty cheap to me.

m21sniper 01-25-2010 03:15 PM

You're related to Andre Waters? (RIP)

carambola 01-25-2010 03:30 PM

nah, i'm not that young. frank kilroy is the player i'm related to.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1264465818.jpg

m21sniper 01-25-2010 03:33 PM

You mean the legendary Frank Kilroy! :)

carambola 01-25-2010 03:46 PM

so knowing a bit about underhanded ways, at least four of those hits on farve looked mighty cheap SmileWavy

m21sniper 01-25-2010 03:49 PM

Favre, warrior that he is, still took it all and kept coming.

The man is a great great player. Even now.

dd74 01-25-2010 09:52 PM

He'll be back.

He didn't need to do anything more then run the ball 10 yards, slide and set up a field goal. This whole season the talking head kept commenting on how this isn't the old Favre who's interception/td ratio was usually equal. Well, I guess we saw the real Favre at the end of the game. I was actually rooting for Minn to win the game at the end, NO had it handed to them.

Agree with you 100% - I was hoping to see the new improved Brett Farve - when I saw him roll out and scan to his left I started yelling no - don't throw - don't throw!

From The Shutdown Corner blog:

"Last night, after ESPN's Tom Jackson said, "That's the thing about Brett Favre; he's not afraid to throw an interception. That's one of the things I most admire about him," baseball scribe Craig Calcaterra posted, "That's the thing about Bill Buckner. He's not afraid to muff a grounder. That's one of the things I most admire about him." Shortly thereafter, with a little bit of help, a joke with endless possibilities was born."

The int was not the deciding play of the game. As ALL THREE announcers on NFL network said, it was not that bad of a play considering the circumstances, it didn't cost them the game.

Not gaining a single yard on 1st and 2nd down, then getting a 12 man in the huddle penalty...AND losing 3 fumbles is what lost them the game.

BeyGon 01-26-2010 08:13 AM

Sorry about Farve, I am a fan of the Saints and am glad they will be in the Super Bowl.

Jim Richards 01-26-2010 08:15 AM

Snipe, it really doesn't matter...the INT was his last play of the season for three seasons in a row, two of them in NFC championship losses. That is all.

The NFL, more than any other league, has adopted rules to protect the 'stars', i.e. the quarterbacks. Who is to blame when a QB tries to block a 300 lb man running at full speed? Don't want to get sacked by two 300 lb men? Throw the ball sooner. The hits he took were 'football hits', part of the game. Spelling Bee's are competitive and non-contact. And televised.

No more ball punching! Someone will break a nail.

In Canada when someone makes heretical suggestion (like the above) to reduce 'contact' and 'injuries' it is referred to as 'pansification of the game'.

Want to complain about some of the referee's calls? Okay, I can see that. But I can't agree with anything you wrote.

On Topic: BF had a very good season. Good enough to justify his return.

Aww come on:rolleyes: everyone knows that the Canadian league is only for the players who couldnt make it in the real football league :D

As a former college QB , I can say that I think it is so ridiculous how they have changed so many rules especially related to hitting the QB. If you cant take the hits , dont play the game I always say!
