Scheduling Predicament. What would you do?
Ok so on the same day in March 2 things have come up... Both I feel obligated to go to....
The first is a PCA Autocross driver training... A) I just want the seat time but I also feel like I have an obligation to help with this type of thing since I am a Board member in my Region... The second is a Wedding... its a girl I started school in Kindergarten with and we stayed close all the way through school... So as a close friend I feel obligated to go to her wedding as well.... So what would y'all do? |
Go to the one you committed to first.
I have committed to neither is the problem...
Go to the one with the least amount of standing around aimlessly. ...so then, the wedding.
Is she likely to get married again?
I'm not sure... there is that chance I feel...
How big of a douche would it make me to skip a friends wedding to go racing? Feel free to ask your SO? |
Go to the wedding.
When I said "go to the one you committed to first," it should follow logically that if you hadn't committed to either one, you'd go to the one you knew about first. Subsequent posts speak loudly that the wedding of your friend is much more important to you than the driver training... so, it's a no-brainer. |
My wife says that since you are asking you should go racing. If the wedding was really important to you, you wouldn't be asking.
This really shouldn't be a predicament. Wedding's should happen once. I've missed too many important things because of "choosing to go racing" If it's a friend you've known for a long time.....how would you feel if she went purse shopping instead of coming to your wedding? The old geezers at the DE will understand.
send a nice gift to the bride and go racing.
If she is a close friend - I would say go to the wedding. If she is not a close friend then do whatever you want.
A couple of years ago I did not go to a very close friend's wedding due to some financial restrictions. I could have put the plane ticket on a card, taken the time off and stayed with my brother in the same town. 6 months later he was killed in a car accident. One of the biggest regrets in my entire life is not going to his wedding. Besides, weddings are awesome. I always have a good time (even if there isn't any drinking) and the girls are in the best mood ever. EVER! Even now that I've been married - weddings are fantastic fun. |

Thanks guys... I was thinking I ought to go to the wedding.... Looks like I will tell dad to take the Porsche and go have a good time......
Edit... Should I go alone? ;) |
Cool....now go watch Wedding Crashers to get yourself pumped up. Hopefully there will be a crazy/hot redhead at your friend's shindig.
Hmm.... Good point... Guess that answers the date question as well....
I just told him to take the chick he is chasing... :)
good decision.
If you had asked this ...
"Edit... Should I go alone? " in you first post the answer woud have been VERY clear ... ;) |
Good choice. If it was a dude rather than a chick I would say send a gift and go drive.
Seriously...there will be many other PCA events in your future. Hopefully, your friend will get married only once.
