iPhone needs warranty I fear

think my iPhone needs to go back to apple. :(

Damn thing has stopped notifying me of texts and today it kept popping up some message about not being compatible with that device... with no device plugged in....

Not possible, they don't ever break.

Restore it.

I assume you mean with iTunes? I've rebooted it several times lately

daber88 01-29-2010 06:11 PM

Did you click the restore or the sync? Restore sets it back to original settings, and then you can sync your songs and all back to it after it is restored. Usually works if its a software problem with the phone.

First try rebooting it. Hold down power and home buttons until the screen goes blank. Ignore the "slide to power off" screen. Then press power button and after a while you'll see the apple logo and it will restart.

If that's doesn't work, then try other things.

BTW, text notification problems could be ATT related. I had a problem with my visual voicemail - messages wouldn't show up - and they had to make some fix on their end. I don't know exactly what, but at some point you might end up calling them.

John it shows that the message is there but never makes the tone or vibrates....

.38 or if that doesn't work .45

did you accidentally turn off your notifications in the settings? check that. then sync the phone to back up your stuff and do a full restore. if problem remains after that, take phone to apple store or at&t store and see what they say. ive had some odd things happen with at&t and my iphone like getting text messages 2 weeks after they were sent to me

Me three. Calls going straight to vmail without phone ever ringing, messages showing up days later.

Usually an AT&T thing.

If the phone needs to be replaced just go straight to the Apple store, don't waste the trip to the AT&T store. They'll sell em to ya but that's about all they want to do with you.

ramonesfreak 01-30-2010 06:45 AM

Just a small correction. APPLE wont let any carrier / store do anything with their phone. All Apple allows is for them to sell it.

Its an intermittent problem..... The messages always come in... Just half the time the phone doesn't make a sound or vibrate.....
