in passing, i asked a man, if he ever sold any of his goats..for food. i heard a young goat is better than lamb. high protein, very low cholesterol and fat. why not? well, he said yes, and he could sell me two this spring. figured a 9mm between the eyes? how would you do it humanely? i had a baby goat once, and wussed out. i was in high school at the time. the goat was (ahem!) "cute".

i hunt this guys property for pigs and turkeys..old school philipino dude..i think i opened my big mouth, and will have to man up. got a butcher committed for processing. a mere $55, not bad.

Actually, all teasing aside that (above) is probably the best way to do it.

Lacking that, shoot the goat in the brain, quickly slit the juglar vein, hang them upside down to bleed out.

There was a study in Europe by some big animal rights group comparing the captive bolt stunning method to the back of the head and slicing the throat in accordance with Halal/Kosher law. They found the Halal/Kosher method caused less suffering, at least in sheep, when performed properly.

I used to live on a couple acres up by Chino. My neighbor always wanted me to deep pit a goat. I couldn't see the attraction. He said if we do it just right it is almost as good as Venison. Yeah, ok, I never did the goat.
While there I raised a couple cattle for food. I paid someone to come, shoot them in the head with a rifle, hang them by their rear legs and clean them. One bullet to the head dropped them.

I've never killed a captive animal, but I'd think you'd want to avoid any method that causes a lot of thrashing around. I'd think that cutting their throat would do it, but you really have to commit.

Skulls are funny things when it comes to bullets. They don't always penetrate and the thick bone can sometime redirect a bullet. I wouldn't do it close.

Do you have any Muslim friends? A Muslim friend of mine does this the Halal way from time to time for special occasions. He tells me that is is as humane possible.

I was in Barbados, cousins bf brought one over.....hung it by the back legs and hit it in the head with a 2 X 4, then slit the throat.....you want it to bleed out.

Skin it out like you would a deer. Sawsall with a wood cutting blade makes short work of hoofs/head.
