At 43, I miss MX racing badly. Autocross, cart racing, skiing, kayaking...... fun, but not so much.

I still enjoy watching MX at the pro level.

I will likely end up on an MX track again some day even though it will be in the vet classes. To this day even with all the hobbies/adventure sports I have done, NOTHING has ever come close to the feeling of being on a 40 bike starting gate with the 30 second card turned sideways.

About 7-8 years ago I let my daughters race a couple of times and I signed up for the 30+ class and got the holeshot and won all my motos on a 10 year old 125 (with a badly worn back tire) against mainly all brand new 450's.

That is the sad state of affairs in motorcycle racing these days.... I did them from the age of 8 until I was about 25... I would beat myself back into shape now to run the Vintage races if we had them closer to home. The long distance travelling would make it prohibitive right now. I am planning on returning to racing when I fully retire and have time.
I still like to attend some of the better events, ie: Springfield Mile, Indy Mile, DuQouin, Savannah, and others. Some of the road races are nice, too.
It makes me wish I lived a little further North so I could be closer to the tracks.

Yah, I don't watch many races, and never have, but I go to the Vintage Festival at LRP, And I saw Brian Redman start dead last in a Scarab, and pass the whole field to win a ten lap race. Watching him put the power down at the end of the horseshoe at the end of the main straight was amazing. Watched Bobby Rahal do the same thing another year in a V8 Chevron.

Those are pretty much one off cars, and one off drivers. Watched a Jag and an Allard lap the field in the rain once as well. Amazing driving skills I can watch.

Regular driving on the track just looks slow and boring, no matter how it feels to be out there. I have definitely had some peak driving moments on the track as well, where I turned into some different person. After that, just driving fast is no longer the same, even on the track.
