Grammy's, WTF is up with that?
After having watched a fair amount or TV over the weekend, Rolex 24 Hours and golf, I put the Grammy's on and tried to watch. Got through Pink's swinging act and had to change channel. It was painful just getting to that point. Why do they even put that shlt on TV. It's doesn't even seem like entertainment, wonder what that show cost? They should have cancelled it and sent the money to Haiti. Actually if they could have nuked the entire theatre it would go a long way to saving the world.
I should have known it was going to be off the wall when (announced beforehand) Michael Jerkson got lifetime entertainer award. So much for replacing Sunday Night football. |

What is Grammys? Does it have anything to do with cars or sports?

That Michael Jackson segment seemed real fuzzy...wish they told me I needed 3D glasses before hand - I would have ran out to Walgreens and bought a bunch so we could all enjoy the 'King of Pop'. At least it was nice to see that Hip Hop is alive and well - sure wish Chris Brown could have been on stage to rap with M&M and those other to fine lads who have spent too much time in the gym losing weight. Poor guys couldn't even kept their pants up they lost so much weight!

I have not watched any of the "award" shows since back in the days when we only had 5-6 channels to choose from. I caught a few glimpses since, and I just don't get them. I think they're made for the kind of people that buy the magazines at the grocery store checkout.

When the Hollywood "awards season" rolls around, I usually state that I would love to work in an industry that spends 9 months working and 3 months congratulating itself for the previous 9 months of work.

I paused on the Grammy's once as I was channel surfing. WHen I stopped there was a rapper with a black phantom of the opera-esque mask on "singing" and a bunch of random folks on the stage dancing. Yeah, I didn't stick around long.
I saw this in a signature on another board that I frequent Quote:

I flipped through it a couple times, there are some but ugly people there that dress really funny. I did see MJs two kids at the end, they were the best looking people on the show. What's up with that?

Tuned in briefly, but had to bail when my ears started to bleed from Taylor Swift's horribly off-key performance. I'm sure Stevie Nicks was cringing inside during their duet of Rhiannon as well (which Taylor butchered). I found out later Ms. Swift won album of the year. Go figure...

As noted in the news today, Neil Young won his first Grammy award yesterday, for "boxed set packaging" (Neil Young Archives Vol 1,1963-1972).
That ties him with Brittany Spears. Tim |

Yeah - It was dreadful watching Stevie/Taylor. Could have been so much better, along with the rest of the show.
I just turned 40 yesterday and I guess I am offically now certified to be on my way down the hill. More and more of the new music I just do not get. I Missed Lady Ga Ga but did see Pink (almost literally) and have to say they both have talent IMHO as do Taylor and Beyonce (sp?) but the music display of the Black Eyed Peas and Jamie Fox was utter trash - far from music to my ears.

I came of age in the mid 90's. We had great bands like Smashing Pumpkins, Nine Inch Nails, Tool, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots. Heck, even Page & Plant and Pink Floyd were still touring back then...
I like some contemporary bands, like The Strokes, Jet, and Franz Ferdinand, but they aren't what's popular...

The Grammys isn't so much an awards show as it is a big commercial. The craziest stuff gets the press, a great example is that a group of 50-something white car enthusiasts is talking about "PINK" today. Sad, and true.

I assume you've been Jeremy?
I can't say I've ever watched a Grammy show, or paid attention to who won.

I was there last night...
Kinda had to attend as we were invited guests of ticketmaster.. Only part I enjoyed was Jeff Beck, although they could have let him play more then 3 minutes ![]() It is what it is...a big commercial and a pat yourself on the back event... Most entertaining for me as always was people watching.. the number of 50 yr old men with smokin hotties in their 20's was unbelievable! ![]() ![]() ![]() After parties were way more fun then sitting through 3+ hours of that! Haven't watched one on TV in years... better things to do with my time
