I can't park my Ferrari where?

FYI,
LA Times story below:

Quote:
Ferrari-owner's dream garage grinds neighbors' gears
--------------------

Holger Schubert built a 10-foot bridge to connect his sports car's living-room parking spot to Tigertail Road. But, now, residents are complaining that the structure was improperly approved by the city.

By Bob Pool

February 4 2010, 9:28 PM PST

His pristine Ferrari 512 BBi "Boxer" sits in the middle of Holger Schubert's living room in Brentwood, right next to stylish furniture, a built-in bookcase and a flat-screen TV that slides on tracks past walls of glass that frame an ocean view.

The complete article can be viewed at:
Ferrari-owner's dream garage grinds neighbors' gears - latimes.com

Visit latimes.com at Los Angeles Times - California, L.A., Entertainment and World news - latimes.com
-------------

If the project passed 18 city inspections w/o issue, he should be allowed to keep the structure. ........

Maybe the rest of my response will appear in the Times article comment section. I invite everyone to send their comments to the Times.

Sherwood

I recall seeing that earlier in a write up. What's the BFD? It's a driveway and looks to be hidden from view when the gate is closed.

I guess he won't be invited to the next block party. Nor host it, either.

Three words in that article that make me cringe "Brentwood Homeowners Assn". Remind me to never move anywhere with a HOA.

Yeah. That's my thought too. If you've seen some of the ostentatious spreads out in Brentwood, you might wonder what right do these people have to question another.

usually the density of driveways is controlled via a permit system in cities - keeps traffic moving (& safely) since there are fewer places a car can dart out

no idea if that's it in this case

I like his pad tho...

Its a good thing he doesn't like older Porsches, I wouldn't want any oil to get on that floor.

I think I would pull the mufflers off that flat-12 to make sure that my friendly neighbors could fully appreciate it.

I wonder if its a driveway separation issue or a blind access? It wouldn't be beyond an agency to permit something unsafe, it really falls back on the engineer.

This is why I will always live in the country.... If my neighbors have a problem with my driveway they have two options... talk to me.... Or blow it out their ass..... No codes to deal with....

Pansies.... sounds like someone is jealous of the neighbors prancing pony honestly.....

Nah, but if it were a Prius the neighbors wouldn't complain

that would be cool if the floor had a good drain for all the oil that leaks out of my car.

I was tempted to say someone is jealous, but then we are talking about Brentwood. So it's probabaly just someone being an ARSE, why there are those three letters in the word "association."

I have a feeling if the guy has a big enough lawyer fund, he'll win.
