Still staying in Phoenix until Tuesday?

yup, leaving sometime mid afternoon for the 12 hour drive back
|
heading out in about 10 minutes. Looking forward to the Arizona warmth in the morning!

My wife is heading out on a trip Monday so I doubt I'll be attending since I'd have my 9 year old in tow... unless Don chimes in and is bringing Sam along. |

Just because you live close to Maricopa and have to drive North to get to South Phoenix, its not our problem! Still in the Dallas area but a bit under the weather. Fighting off a cold but feeling better today. Should be back in Phoenix by noon on Monday. Rick and Chuck knows how to get ahold of me so let me know where we are meeting. Joe A |
Just got back in from balmy Pittsburgh. Gawd, I love Phoenix. So what's the plan tomorrow?
|
Nothing yet? Anyone have an idea of a place to meet? Same as last time up North off of Bell road or have any other ideas?
|
We need to know who's in before we pick a place. If it's all folks north of the 101, then we should stay up here.

Patsy Grimaldi's (great pizza) - Market Street/DC Ranch area Jasper's Peak (creole bar/grill) - Grayhawk area Habanero's (Mexican) - down the street from Scottsdale Gun Club O’Donoghue’s (Irish pub/grill) - Grayhawk area Rock Bottom (bar/grill, location of last meet-up IIRC) - Desert Ridge |
I like them all except for Desert Ridge. That parking lot is a nightmare, even on a bike. Grimaldi's is as good as the best east coast pizza. Joe, ODDJOB? You guys around tomorrow.
|
after spending 11 hours in Arizona so far today, I must say I'm really liking it here. Can't believe how smooth the 101 is (at least up north). Things are cheaper, people are nicer, and the place feels a lot cleaner.
and definitely loving the weather! |
Rick,
Heading that direction shortly. The Desert Ridge location is good for me, rest are way East but better than "tookie" as far as distance goes. Anything in the "Mayo and Scottsdale road" areas? Jeff, where are you staying? Scottsdale or ??? Rick is way North in Anthem, and believe Eric is in Glendale, so Scottsdale will be a drive for all of us. |

Default location could be somewhere around I-17 and Bell. Hooters? I'll speak with Eric this morning. Jeff, where are you coming from late afternoon/early evening?
|
I'd like to join you guys but I'm working late all week...
|
Staying at the motel 6 next to the Fashion Square Mall in Snottsdale :p
have Prius, will travel ;) Quote:
|
There are a ton of good places to eat around that part of Snobbsdale, but it's far for all of us.
|
we'll be doing a lot of driving around anyway, so where ever you guys want to go is good for us, don't worry about it being far for us.
besides, gas is cheaper here, and with the Prius so far averaging 42 mpg on the fast part of the trip (I-10), the more we use the rental the more feasible it becomes. |
Just spoke with Eric. We picked:
O'Donoghue's Irish Pub O'Donoghue's Irish Pub located in Scottsdale, Arizona -- Our History 20469 N. Hayden Rd. Scottsdale, AZ 85255 (480) 585-6329 Eric and Jeff will already be in the neighborhood and this is closer to Joe and ODDJOB than it is to me. Eric said 5:00ish, but will update me later. I'll email Joe and ODDJOB. |
sounds good!
|
You guys have fun. My wife's heading out of town shortly and my daughter has Karate at 4:30 so I won't be making the journey to the north side.
|
Guys, the place I can make but WHY in the middle of the rush hour traffic when no-one, absolutely NO ONE lives anywhere near this place?
I can make it but it may be closer to 6 once traffic dies down a bit. Joe |
How bad is rush hour at Thompson Peak and Hayden on a holiday? Eric's office is right near there and he'll be with Jeff. You and ODDJOB are closer to there than I am.
|
Traffic should be light today since it's a holiday.
|
either that make it a bit later so Lee can come with daughter after karate?
any time is good for us... |
Back from the meet. Everyone made it except Lee and it would have been a long drive for him.
Good to meet Ruf and his group. Looks like they are looking forwards to moving down! Let us know if we can help! Joe A |

glad I finally met Joe after seeing his name for 10 years on the board, as well as Rick and ODDJOB! We can't wait to move! Hopefully an opportunity presents itself (soon) where we can find something career wise, which would then secure our future in Arizona :)
|
Shame on you, Dottore. I'll probably be in Vancouver in mid-March.

Please give me a "heads up" if you will be there. I'm not yet sure that I will be there, but if I am I undertake to show you the bright lights. |
Good to see everyone, and to finally meet ODDJOB after all this time!

MAN LOVE? WTF? nobody said nothing bout DAT!
joe im gonna forward a nice lil beach boys song accompanied by this really nice island kabana girl frolicking in the waves. it will hopefully help you never to utter that word again! had a great time. rufblackbird hope all of you find a place here with eric. and hope the closing escrow termite survey flood control aerial pictures, and pyscho neighbors/child molesters /airports/ flight paths small print on the documents dont drive ya nuts signing them all. im sure eric will have a hefty supply of pens. the reason why so many documents are signed here and all of the DISCLOSURE is because many years ago az did have lots of land fraud going on and finally the state clamped down and enacted all these disclosure laws. good luck house hunting. |
OJ,
Dot is the one who seems to like "man love," not me. See post #107. Good to see everyone and dammit wish I was not coming down with a cold and feeling better last night. We need to do this more often! As well need to have another UPM (Ultimate Pelican Meet) somewhere again. Vegas part deaux anyone?? |
Several people at the dinner asked about the helo that crashed a couple of days ago. Seems that it lost a blade in flight. Sad to see that it killed everyone on board...
~~~~ Blade Separation Preceded EC135 Crash Preliminary indications are that blade failure played a role in the fatal crash of a 2000 American Eurocopter EC135T1 near Cave Creek, Ariz., on Sunday afternoon. Witnesses on the ground reported hearing a popping sound and then seeing parts fly off the helicopter before it rolled several times, pitched 90 degrees nose-down into the ground and caught fire. The NTSB confirmed to AIN that parts of the rotor blades were found half a mile from the crash site. The helicopter was en route from Flagstaff to Scottsdale Air Park when it crashed in a desert wash between two houses, killing all five aboard. Among the passengers were the helicopter’s owner–billionaire Thomas Stewart, CEO of Services Group of America–his wife, five-year-old daughter and the pilot. Stewart is remembered for unsuccessfully trying to get the city of Seattle to approve a helipad on the roof of his office building there, and eventually taking the matter to the Washington State Supreme Court.
