Don't forget to report your stolen goods on your tax return.

Stolen property. If you steal property, you must report its fair market value in your income in the year you steal it unless in the same year, you return it to its rightful owner.

Publication 17 (2009), Your Federal Income Tax

From a bit higher on the same page.

Illegal activities.
Income from illegal activities, such as money from dealing illegal drugs, must be included in your income on Form 1040, line 21, or on Schedule C or Schedule C-EZ (Form 1040) if from your self-employment activity.

Good point.

Still strikes me as funny.

If it WEREN'T on there, you can just hear a crime boss's lawyer, "well, we wanted to claim it, but there wasn't a space for it on the form..."

I knew a guy who did taxes for people who had...unusual...incomes.

People like hookers, clergy, etc. Apparently hookers do file taxes (at least the the morally upstanding ones).

Correct. They have gotten a lot of criminals on this. They could not pin them down on other crimes but did on this one. Al Capone was tripped up by tax evasion.

A respected accounting firm I worked for had an individual tax client who was a Marijuana farmer.

The line items on his profit and loss statement were:

Income from Marijuana sales

Expenses-
Labor, Spring planting
Labor, Fall harvest

Of course these details weren't reported on the return. He filed Schedule C.
