1972 penton 175 jackpiner-oem parts needed

yep getting back on a project i walked away from in 2001. as with all dirty bikes 38 years old............finding parts is as much fun as a stick in the eye. this is a powdercoated frame up concours build, and no detail is being missed. i am kind of setting this up for my "golden years" of terrorizing a small town somewhere every sunday morning riding it with lights/license plate/insurance, getting my sunday morning paper/breakfast/corona with clamato juice and some limes/going to grandmas house the hard way" riding the countryside high and wide(POCO)" thru rocks trees streams sand washes mud etc. its getting uber high $$$$$ OHLIN CLASSIC SHOCKS for my lard ass. brand new chrome fenders/polished forks/brand new chrome rims with metzler tires/fresh painted tank/new seat and foam,renthal alum bars,all magura controls etc.


we have rebuilt the engine crank up and really all we need are the throttle/clutch/frt brake cables/chain installed and its about ready to fire. after initial firing we will fab a pro circut alum silencer USFS approved spark arrestor to the exhaust pipe to keep mr. ranger danger happy. butttttt.....we are looking for the following if anyjuan has any of the following laying around gathering dust.


1) chain guard

2) VDO speedo(NOT wasted from endos or crashing into rocks/trees) and odo with cable and front speedo hub.

3) BING 30/32 carb complete. i have a mikuni 32 but i will have to hassle with the intake side mount(manifold) as well as airbox side, and if dont have to hassle with sudco carbs, i just as soon avoid the headaches. plus original is cooler.

actually the 1972 is the evil "black" motor from KTM osterreich(austria). the sachs(sach-ez) motors were earlier than my 1972 and after mine came the "silver" KTM motors.


yeah quessobay(cheesebay) is always an option but whats pictured and whats sold are always a treat to find what ya really got.

i went to POG(penton owners group) and may have a line on a BING carb for it actually off the same year 1972. that will simplify things alot as far as not dinking around with intake manifold and airbox boot.

and the good old woods built ROTAX FROM HELL 605 DEZ SLED. this is a PURE SQUID EMULSIFIER! LOL!

and the lil ol 1985 100MPH XR-350-RF from hell "XRS-ONLY" built motor w/flat side mikuni carb, with KTM upside down forks that im the original owner of. the ultimate over the "14-teeners"(14,000 ft elevation) colorado bike. 5 gallon IMS tank so ya dont have to worry about pesky fuel stops

crap joe i got a 1977 canucker(canam) 175 qualifier thats right after the mx-1 when its finished. just got new buchannan spokes/nipples/sun rims for the mx-1 and qualifier to lace up this week and slap brand new metzlers on them with HD tubes and zoomy uber lightweight high techno motion pro rim locks. (2) on rears and (1) rimlock on front rims.


lacing rims is always fun and entertaining.



if ya notice on the jackpiner the chromed reddle rims................try finding those puppies???????????????????????????/ what a PITA finding them let alone expense of having them chromed. i would have WAYYYYY ahead if i had just ordered some SUn alloy rimms from buchannan. but wez trying to keep as original as possible on the jackpiner except updating the spark arrestor to something better than a old "sparky" model thats on it.

any of these older bikes run damn good with a mikuni carb slapped on it. if ya ante up for a flatslide mikuni its a real nice touch instead of POS amal carbs and not very much better BING carbs. but man the "PURISTS" have a MOO COW if anything changed from what the factory issued.


the jackpiner is gonna get broken in/jetted and some more foo foo parts added and then its gonna get some stabil or the tank and bowl drained and its just gonna sit for awhile until we can get a bunch of us old outlaw racist(?) dirty bikers up for a fun filled dirty bike ride up to crown king for some beers and burgers.


ya know what??? its amazing how many beers ya can drink in an evening werking on these and never leave your property and not bother a soul.................UNTIL YA FIRE THEM UP! hahahahahahahahaha!
