Want to sell my road bike but need help on pricing.
I have a Serotta Colorado steel road bike with Shimano 600 everything & Mavic rims. The bike is 10ish years old and hasn't been ridden much in the last 9 years. Still in great shape. I just don't know where to start as far as pricing. The pedals won't be included with the sale.
Any help would be appreciated. I've included some pictures, the red is closer to a Gaurds Red rather than the orange tone in the photos. Thanks. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Nice bike!
Frame size? Sadly used old bikes are not worth much regardless of components and frame, even if the miles are low and in tip top shape. You are looking in the "hundreds of dollars" for a price. Yasin

Thanks Slow&Rusty.
56 IFC. Is the measurement from the center of the bottom bracket to the center of top tube along the seat tube?

Jeff,
If you run a Google search on the name and model + "craigslist" you can find what others are asking for similar bikes around the country. Let me know when you figure out what it's worth. Tammy is competing in a mini-triathlon in April and we're looking for some for her to ride. I picked up a Maruishi road bike from a friend of mine, but it's on the heavy side. Any idea what yours weighs? Are you getting a new bike or just cleaning out the garage?

Damn fine bike! Serrotta is one of the top builders. If you're planning on getting a new bike you might want to keep your saddle as well.

FWIW, I sold my Raleigh Supercourse, 1970's steel, to Scott for $200 plus shipping after his campus bike was stolen.
Haven't heard, but I hope it's still serving him well.

I had some luck selling off a fair amount of old components on fleabay awhile back.
Mostly old campy stuff - and that fetched good money when in good condition. Was surprised at getting about $250 for an early 80's top end Trek race frame. It was somewhat beat, and on the big side (58cm ctc). This was a handbuilt from waterloo (I think '84). Your Serotta is a much nicer and more current frame. Should be able to do a bit better for it alone, if you want the hassle. Remember, a reserve or palatable starting price is your friend. Good luck, and nice bike. |

I would put it on CL for $350 and see what comes of it.

Might surf through the "Classic & Vintage" section of BikeForums.net. That old steel beauty will have some appeal there, and I think there are a couple of sticky threads about value . . .

If you are not in a hurry to sell, I'd start at $500.

$3-500....depends on if someone is hot for it. 56 is a common size. 600 is not the most robust Grupo.

Hey guys, that's a fully lugged frame and butted I'm sure. That might be worth more than you think. I would think it would be older than 10 years, maybe 15-20. Are you sure about the age. It's a nice bike no doubt.

Thanks again guys.
sscates I believe you are right and the frame may be more than 10 yrs old. I had the bike built around 10 yrs ago. Jim, I am going to replace a mountain bike if I sell the road bike or not. If it is only worth a few hundred dollars I will hang on to it. It is a beautiful bike and rides great and I would rather keep it than let it go for a few $.

$500 is too low. Start at $900, and post it here: Serotta Competition Bicycle Forums
That's no ordinary ten-year-old steel frame.
