It's not easy being young.

It's not easy being young.

I had to laugh, it's quite windy here today and a young guy just rode his skateboad past the house carrying his surfboard while texting, and had his baseball cap on backwards to complete the picture.

The other guys are just concentrating on not dropping their surfboards in the wind.

Jim Richards 02-09-2010 10:19 AM

Yeah, I hear ya. I really struggle with my youth.

masraum 02-09-2010 10:34 AM

Nice, but he looked cool, and that's all that counts.

m21sniper 02-09-2010 10:56 AM

Hey, he pulled it off right?

I sure miss being young. Miss it more every day.

BeyGon 02-09-2010 11:00 AM

I don't want to go back, not much I really want to do over, buy something earlier or sell it later, get rid of my first wife quicker, but to be that age again, I doubt I could really change.

m21sniper 02-09-2010 11:02 AM

It's not that i'd want to do anything over, i just want to do all of it again.

Oh exactly. I can imagine myself at high school with all those beautiful naive girls around and having the, well the skills I've developed over the years.

Yup, I'm sure it a jealousy thing. I could do one or the other, skateboard, carry the surfboard, txt, wear the cap without looking silly, but not at the same time LOL. Maybe not the cap thing.

Embraer 02-09-2010 11:26 AM

i used to be able to throw a football a quarter of a mile. ..if i could only go back to '82....i COULD TAKE STATE!

Bill, I just want to see photos of where you're speaking of. NZ is very charming, IMO.

there are a lot of things I have done I don't want to do again, I was lucky the first time, I'm just saying I don't know that I would be smart enough to change on the second trip. It's to me like playing golf, people whine that the putt missed by an inch but then the shot before was lucky, I might not be as lucky the second time.
I am reasonably happy to be where I am.

DD, I'll put some pics up on my website Lyall Bay Beach, Wellington, New Zealand sometime soon. As per the recent discussions about NZ, Wellington and the north island isn't as nice as the south island http://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-discussions/504638-anyone-know-perth-well-4.html Wanaka/Queenstown is great.

If you truly had a good time, THIS is the correct answer. Ditto mois. Not much of it anyway.

+1

Screw "growing old gracefully". I intend to avoid growing old as long as possible and finally capitulate to it only after much thrashing about, kicking and screaming. I won't go quietly.

Of course I really do wish I knew then what I know now. Youth really is wasted on the young. But I'd still like to have it back again. It's better than getting old.

GH85Carrera 02-09-2010 12:42 PM

You are never to old to have a happy childhood.

m21sniper 02-09-2010 12:43 PM

I plan to live forever or die in the attempt.

Too true.

Although there's something to be said for being "young and dumb and full of ___".

Youth is powerful enough to offset all the stupidity associated with being young. It makes doing very dumb things very forgiveable.
