Women

Wife called me yesterday.

I was in a meeting when she called, of course could not pick up so texted her, "What Up?"

She texted back that we had some stuff coming due and Glen (our financial guy) wants to get together to discuss.

OK.

So right now she is giving me **** for not getting back to her with a day and time.

I responded, "you did not ask me an actionable question, what you texted was an FYI"

Somehow I was supposed to understand that what she really wanted was info from me to set an appointment.

Why can't the just say what they want?

Strange creatures.

She could be ticked because you used the word "actionable" when speaking to her.

Business words and wives don't mix. Trust me, I've been there.

Besides, you were in a meeting so I'm pretty sure that gives you the upper hand in the argument. You couldn't exactly discuss the matter at that time.

Gogar just explained why men and women have never and will never communicate properly. End of story.

Anything that bleeds once a month, heals itself then does it again and again for 35+ years and does not die is bordering on evil.

Yea!! Glen may make a "deposit" for you

He may bump that "portfolio" so good that you may be short on your current position

I dunno, guys. I don't think this is a man-woman thing. I think this is communication 101 thing.

Somebody sends you a message and says "we had some stuff coming due and Glen (our financial guy) wants to get together to discuss", I would reply with something along the lines of: "OK, when would you like to meet with Glenn?"

Not just "OK". That would kind of irk me, too, as it is now incumbent on me to send another message asking you when you can meet. I get responses like that from lazy coworkers who don't really want to take action

See, and I would respond "OK" thinking that the subject was FYI for now, with more discussion in person later.

Right, if the original sender had wanted info it should have come across as:

"we had some stuff coming due and Glen (our financial guy) wants to get together to discuss. When is good for you?"

As I see it, NOT asking the question that you want an answer to is lazy.

Thank you.

Here's a typical conversation with my wife.

Can you pick me up from the train station?

Sure, what time does it get in?

It leaves at 5.

OK, what time does it get in?

It's an express.

Great, what time does it get in?

Should take about 30 minutes or so.

Fine, what time does it get in.

I just told you it takes a half hour.

So 5:30?

Well the schedule says 5:40

Why are you yelling at me?

Oh boy! Your wife and mine must be sisters. I get so irritated when simply adding a few more words to her statements would have prevented my irritation.

It's like they want you to read their minds. The bad thing is that she's rubbing off on the kids to where even they can't start or carry on a conversation without the other person probing for what they want or mean. And I'm the only foreigner in the house!

Have you posted this transcript before? I swear I've read that somewhere. Or possibly I've had that conversation myself....

Men ask questions in order to gather information and make decisions. Women ask questions to build a relation and reach a decision based on both parties input.
My wife will drive me to drink with her avoidance in answering a question similar to stomach's example.

Here's a conversation I've had many times:

Me - "Where do you want to eat?"

Her - "I don't want to drive through."

Me - "Where do you want to eat?"

Her - "I'm really hungry."

Me - "Where do you want to eat?"

Her - "I could sure go for a steak and salad."

Me - "Where do you want to eat?"

Her - "I went shopping today."

Me blowing my brains out.

As a good friend of mine once said, "for me, it's a short putt".

I never understand the Venus and Mars bravo sierra. DNA is a fickle engine at best.

Is there differences in the way men and women process certain information? In a gross, universal cover story, perhaps.

But in the practical world, the everyday? Shouldn't be.

I tell my wife what is on my mind, she tells me what is on hers. Then we swat it back and forth and make an f'ing decision without relying on some global interpretation of how we each should approach the problem.

If she is having a bit of a quandary on how to get to the point, I ask her to get to the point. If I am having a bit of a struggle to express myself, she asks me to try again.

It ain't that hard, Sportsfans. And, yes, sometimes we agree to disagree.
