iphone won't send mail??
Problem solved, everything is right with the world.
|
Well, your first problem is that AOL thing in the middle ;)
|
If you're getting mail, the password is correct.
Sounds like a possible problem with the port. My SMTP server port (25) is blocked on my DSL line. On the cable line, there is no problem. I have to change the port to 2525. I also would check how it is logging into the smtp server. There is usually a few authentication choices. |
The problem was logging I'm to the smtp server. I had to make one mod and the problem was fixed. Thanks for taking the time to offer assistance. I hate these puzzles and I'm not a patient person.

Help! My iphone will not send mail while in Wi-fi mode, only 3g. I've been battling this for awhile and I have no idea what I'm doing! Here are my setting, which I have no idea what any of theses are or do:
Outgoing mail server: Primary server - on smtp-server.indy.rr.com Host name: smtp-server.indy.rr.com User name: rmweaver@indy.rr.com Password: ******** ( password is entered correctly ) Use SSL: On Authentication: Password > Server Port: 587 Other SMTP Servers smtp-server.indy.rr.com - on Host name: smtp-server.indy.rr.com User name: rmweaver@indy.rr.com Password: ******** ( password is entered correctly ) Use SSL: On Authentication: Password > Server Port: 25 AT&T SMTP Server - On Host name: cwmx.com User name: optional ( blank ) Password: optional ( blank ) Use SSL: off Authentication: Password > Server Port: 25 None of these makes any sense to me. I hope someone can help me, I really need to be able to send emails when I have wi-fi and don't have cell reception. It actually happens alot to me. Thank you so much for your time. |
AT&T DSL blocks port 25. It is why I went to 2525. See if you have an alternative port. The other option is to setup your iPhone to send out using the SMTP server from your DSL connection.

Thanks for replying so fast. I tried 2525 and it did not send, but it finally sent a test email to an unsent folder. This is the first I've seen of that. So I have tried 25, 587 and now 2525. Are there any more to try?
Thanks! |
You need to check with your e-mail provider, they will tell you the alternative ports. Mine uses 2525.
Google is your friend With Roadrunner mail the outgoing server settings vary depending on wether or not you are processing the mail through your Roadrunner suppied modem or not. If your iPhone is connected through your Roadrunner modem (i.e. you are connected to your home wifi network) the SMTP server is set to port 25. If you are outside of your home network the SMTP server is connected through port 587. You can create an additional SMTP server and name it Roadrunner:587 (the colon will tell the setup to use port 587) and enable both servers. That way if you are at home and connected through your wireless lan (much faster than 3G) it will use the port 25 enables server and if you are on the road it will use the port 587 server.
