The 917 was surprisingly small!

Hopefully not a repost...

I know this is probably old news for most here, but it really surprised me how small the 917 was compared to a 914.

I still get a boner every time I see a 917.

WOW, I never realized it was that small.

That is what freaks me out every time I see one in person. I photos by itself it looks huge and when you see it, it really is tiny.
You would have had to have a real pair to drive that thing flat out

you guys need to go to more shows where P AG displays their cars - or old race teams do

race cars are usually quite small - obvious why if you think about it...

If you know of somewhere within driving distance of the midwest where PAG displays their cars PLEASE let me know. I'm surrounded by muscle cars and TRASHCAR around here. Not that I don't like muscle cars, but after the first 10,000, you get a little tired of seeing them.

WERD! Especially Indy. I lived here for 8 years and just moved back. After living in the Cincinnati area I realize just how Porsche devoid the Indy area is.

in real life the car is surprisingly small. But oh so sexy!

herr_oberst 02-11-2010 05:53 PM

You have to be careful walking around the paddock at vintage race events; they are unbelievably low to the ground, and you'd probably get a stern look, and maybe even a coarse word or two if you accidentally put your size 12 into the front hood of one!
I just can't even imagine 240 mph in the dark in the French countryside in a 917. It makes Luge seem like a safe, sensible sport.

From Esquire's funny jokes told by beautuful women:

A man was about to consummate his realationship for the first time with a beautiful young woman. However he was really nervous and embarrased about his small penis. As they began to undress, he turned out the lights. After a reasonable amount of foreplay, he places the woman's hand on his erect, but diminutive, memeber.

They woman replied "Oh...no thanks. I don't smoke."

Hit Brian Redman's vintage event in July, at Elkhart Lake. Tons of Porsches.

I'm another one who was suprised at the diminutive size the first time I saw a real 917.

It was a thrill just to watch it idle on by when standing just a few feet away.

Perhaps you mean lower rather than smaller? If you where to move the camera to the center of the two cars, and raise it up it would look very different. Definitely smaller than most roads cars that a 12cyl behind the driver. The 917 pushed the cockpit so far forwards they could do this. In a road car it would make people very uncomfortable(safety)
