very, very easy to tell among the posters in this thread who is married and who is not.

Yeah, I'm similar. I'll lose contact with high school buds for years, but will probably eventually email them to say "hi". College friends are pretty much the same. Old work buds, etc....
It's sort of an "out of sight, out of mind" thing, except that I probably do think about them from time to time, I just don't keep in touch. I always figured it was partially from being a military brat and moving every 2.5-3 years. I've got one person from my college past that I keep in touch with, but even then, it ebbs and flows over time. |
There are four or five people I have known since high school I talk to every week or so and we visit once in awhile, most are out of state. I like to go up to the islands in Washington to visit. Also there is a group of thirty or so that meet every year at Doheney Beach where we drink a lot of beer and talk about what great surfers we used to be.

My college roomate and I can go three years without a single call or email, then meet up and hang out as if only a week has passed.
Yet still... going three years without a "hey what's up" does seem kinda stupid. |

Same way. I have four friends. Three of them get it if we don't talk for a year or so. But they all know I'll be there when the **** gets bad, and I know they'll be there for me. No questions. When we do get together, it's like nothing has happened. We pick up right where we left off.
Then there's my Buddy Jack. If Jack calls twice, and you don't call him back, the third time he's really pissy. Then he tells everyone that he gives up, and he'll wait for me to call. I told Jack's wife that Jack is a needy *****, way too high maintenence, and I just don't have the stamina to play these High School games anymore. I haven't heard from Jack since. He'll get over it. |
I had a buddy like that in HS.... Except his family had money so he tried to buy friends and keep them happy with money to counter his needy ***** qualities... Well that stopped working too and now he is rather lonely I hear... Someone told me he is "having" to get married.... Doesn't surprise me... Dumbass....

I have a buddy that I met when I was 5. Neither one of us could cross the street so we'd kick a ball back and forth. Were like brothers. If I don't call at least once a month he gets all bent. I'd dump any other friend with this attitude......but like I said were like brothers.
