6YO--first Slinky--trashed it already

Man, how many hours is a Slinky SUPPOSED to last?

My son got one(the new, plastic version) today. It's now stretched out and junk.

He's pretty upset so I reassured him that nearly everybody destroyed a Slinky at one time.

Come to think of it, I don't think mine ever "walked" down the stairs like in the commercials, and it was an original.

I think everyone's first Slinky died a quick death,

But if he destroys his third or tenth one you might need to worry.

The metal slinky is far superior to the plastic.

Speedy:)

+1, but we always called them: "tri-spacial-dimensional-linear-harmonic-occilators"

Of note in the commercial is the tread depth on the stairs. Maybe as small as 8 inches. That is really what it takes to do more than 4-6 stairs. The escalator would be cool it the treads weren't 18 inches or so. May be they make a giant vesion.....

Our house gained two metal slinkys this Christmas. I did the normal cautions and they didn't remain perfect for long. It takes patience to untangle them and tweak them back into some sembulance of shape.

Brilliant! Never thought of that.

This reminds me of the Log commercial from Ren and Stimpy

What rolls down stairs
Alone or in pairs
Rolls over your neighbor's dog?
What's great for a snack
And fits on your back?
It's Log! Log! Log!
It's Lo-og, it's Lo-og
It's big, it's heavy
It's wood!
It's Lo-og, Lo-og
It's better than bad
It's good!!!
Everyone want's a log
You're gonna love it Log.
Come on and get your log.
Everyone needs a log.
