Says in the comments that this was in Syria and that the dad died. I thought it looked fatal - the angle would be what's called a "quartering away" shot in hunting - the deadliest trajectory you could imagine.

Obviously this could have been easily avoided on many levels. At least the kid got away unharmed.

This illustrates well that even the smallest kid can point a big gun and pull the trigger. It is almost intuitive - toys, movies and watching the grown ups do it ... scary!
