Finally found my target spoon

After borrowing my brother-in-law's 6 7/8" bull barreled government target model Ruger Mark II for the last several months, I finally found a replacement to buy locally. It is a stainless competition target model Ruger Mark II with 6 7/8"slab sided barrel. My wife and I are halfway through our winter pistol league so the red dot sight has to come off for now as we are being scored in the iron sight category. I can't wait to tear this thing apart tonight to polish and replace some trigger parts to get the pull weight down to the two pound mark like the other gun we have been using. I think my wife will like the slightly lighter slab sided barrel.... I hope I do too.

Hey bro, looks really nice. I'd love to let you loose on the action of my P7 with your polishing wheels and brushes. LOL.

Wow nice. And it's kinda groovy being a competion taget model instead of the vanila flavoured ones you see all over the place. I like the grips too.

All I was really looking for was any Ruger Mark II or III with either a bull or slab-side barrel, but I am happy I found this like new stainless model from a local private seller. It will last my lifetime and probably my kids/grandkids too.

Same guy sold me a same year 63 Winchester yesterday. I wasn't really looking for one (unlike the Woodsman) but as my buddy Tex would say, "it needed buying". Jim

That is pretty. I like the grips. My target spoon is a bit older, and not nearly as sophisticated.

Oh man I just got wood. And a match target to boot!I'm a Colt man and that is exactly what I have been looking for. Nice, really nice. Everybody should own a Colt 1911, a 1903/08 hammerless, and a woodsman. I gladly pay that "Colt Tax" to get that kind of workmanship. Last edited by targa911S; 02-20-2010 at 06:26 PM..

every month younger spawn and my self blast at least 325 rds if not more, doing COMBAT WOMBAT matches. at the minimum thats 650rds per month thru the gun. not juan FTF FTE with this. ONLY USE FEDERAL ammo. each month right after matches i take it down and clean it to the nth degree with q-tips to every orfice. crap we shoot MORE rounds per month than cops do for their yearly proficiency test. about the only thing i want to add is the extended mag release. have used the volquartzen grips and i like them. problemo is im right handed and my spawn is wrong(left) handed so doing the volquartzen grips would force me to buy him another gun. and that aint happening. he can buy another gun with his own moola.

yepper sniper. an AWC from my FFL amigo. gets quieter as ya shoot more rounds. wish everyjuan had juan for the matches, then nojuan would have to wear "ears". its a mark III 22/45. and we added the threaded barrel and picatinny and red dot front sight and adjustable rear sight. insane lightweight, and a blast when out in the dezert for practice. if i go..............it goes with me out in the boonies always. if ya cant have fun with .22's..............well maybe ya should resign yerself to scrapbooking or knitting.

Take away the top rib...and that's my pistol! I had a tough time choosing between Browning & Colt when I bought. Browning won out...but really can't say why. Both very good...
