South Florida and vicinity Pelicans especially Byron

My mother is the Main Street Development Director for Oakland Park.

If you recall I posted about her Octoberfest last month. As in years past it was a huge success with a very nice turnout.

Well she's come up with another idea.

She will be putting on a Classic German car show complete with swap meet (Byron).

She needs Pcars

Below is the memo sent out to the committee to get the planning started. Any advice, assistance that the community can offer would be appreciated.

PM me if you need her contact info for anything.

Dear Promotion committee:
We are meeting this Monday, Nov 11, at 9:30 AM at the Main Street office to brainstorm and start the planning process for our Classic Car Show and Swap Meet scheduled for Sunday, Feb 28. The Main Street board has approved the event and I am hoping to complete the Event Permit this Friday. We will have a marketing plan, time line and budget, and add to the list of potential sponsors.

Proposed location: NE 12 Avenue in Downtown Oakland Park (from 34 Ct. to Oakland Park Blvd.)

We are hoping to attract the following car owners and clubs:
VW, Mercedes, Porsche, BMW, and perhaps Audi. VW Club and Mercedes Club of America have already indicated that they would love to participate. (Rolf Engelfried will be the liaison to the VW club and Ron will take that role with the Mercedes club). I have a connection with Porsche in the pipeline but we still need to locate BMW and Audi. Rolf has suggested a dealer may be our best bet

We will have five categories:
before 1950
50 - 60
60 - 70
70 - 80
80 - 90

We will honor 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each category, and best in show (selected by judges from the AACA), and people's choice. (Trophies and plaques)

Advertising:
Car magazines? Club newsletters? web sites? Other????

Marketing materials will include:
Registration form - first draft possibly by Monday, 11/16, final by 11/24
Sponsorship package - final by Dec 1
Ads - by Jan 1, 2010
Water bill insert - by Jan 1, 2010

Rolf has authored the registration form which may be available as a first draft/layout by Monday in time for our meeting, and I am putting together a preliminary sponsorship package for your review and input. Mark Budwig and Nick will get creative with the ads and water bill insert.

Vendors:
Swap and Meet & Used Parts - new and used stuff
Food vendors? Big Dog Station is open, but perhaps we want others in addition?
Music?

Pre-registration Fee: $20 & T-shirt (and dash plaque) Cut-off date: Feb 15
Day of event: $25 (no T-shirt)

Please let me know that you can be here on Monday.
Sincerely,
Siegi

Mom puts on a pretty big event, couple of videos from this years Octoberfest.

Oakland Park as in Ft. Lauderdale? Better have a steering wheel club and paid-up insurance.

Car show is shaping up.

Just spoke to mom and they've got around 50 foreign cars that will be judged. Local PCA is showing up. Some American iron will also be there for display, no judging.

Supposed to be an immaculate original early RS in attendance.

Still time to get in on it.
